MF is pathetic. I would get Moura on, as at least he will drive forward when he senses space in front of him.
Emerson Royal is pretty dreadful. He needs to seriously up his game. At this point I'd rather Doherty was on!
Cuti "accidentally" falling onto Weghorst What're the odds Paul Joseph ****stain compares him to Trudeau (while conveniently forgetting that Russia exists)?
Frustrating half. Perhaps the classic game where we need a 3rd midfielder who is more instinctively forward-looking. We have occasionally got into good areas but we’d make more of those opportunities, and have them more often, if we moved the ball more quickly.
0-0 HT. That was rubbish. Too slow and we barely created anything, quite often losing the midfield. Really feels like the players aren't up for it on a wet Wednesday night in Sto... er, Burnley.
I thought they were told not to raise an early flag and let VAR sort out anything that comes from it? That was quite a good position we lost to a wrong decision there.
The win is everything tonight. Going by last season I suspect the best we can expect here tonight is a 1-0 victory.
He’s gash. Average defensively and substandard going forward. Walker, Trippier, Aurier, Doherty and now Emerson. At this rate the next RB/RWB won’t have 2 legs
I'm looking for more from Royal and the lad Sessegnon, in the second half - or they can go and sit down on the bench early.
The WBs have been truly awful. Neither of them has any confidence to either take on their man and/or put a cross in and Burnley are able to basically ignore the flanks and pack the central channels, which is exactly what they like doing anyway. Wouldn't mind Reguilon getting a chunk of game time, Sess is sadly growing into another huge disappointment from a hugely disappointing window. Difficult to see what he offers.
It's fascinating watching r/coys create a scapegoat out of Emerson over the course of the first half, while somehow ignoring that Sessegnon's not offered anything at all in the match So strap yourselves in,. the rest of the season's going to involve yelling at Emerson and only Emerson, no matter who might actually be at fault...
The exact game that I was expecting, if the opposition defends deep we don't have the players to create chances - 1 goal probably wins this and it is still very much in the balance who will get it with 0-0 looking a good bet.
Emerson's confidence clearly took a bashing after his horror show against Southampton. He's young and new to the league but personally I (and Conte too by the sounds of it) am sick of mentally fragile players who go to pot at the first hint of failure or criticism. One of the things I like about Reguilon is that even after some absolute clangers (e.g. scoring OG of the season), he picks himself up and carries on. Similar to Lamela in that regard. But in players like Royal, Bergwijn, Tanganga, Winks and Sanchez we still have a core of truly brittle players.
