Poch needs to justify his behaviour by letting everyone know what was said or it comes across like it was just a frustrated meltdown ..no more...no less
It's difficult to believe that he actually said that, but if he did then he should be suspended from football across the board. It is at best unprofessional and at worst an indication of corruption.
There should be a transcript, because of the referees microphone, but have the FA got any balls? Ref: HBIC many posts in recent times.
A few people are suggesting he said "Don't blame me for you bottling it" which, if true, is ****ish in the extreme considering the decisions he was making throughout the match
Have seen nothing of the game, so before I make comment can somebody tell me if Spurs : 1. had appalling ref decisions against them 2. suffered injuries to key players before/during the match
1 Dodgy corner decision which lead to a goal, apart from that, average. We should have been able to defend both goals. 2 None The issue is the comments from the ref after the match.
1. Off the top of my head: Burnley's opener came from a corner that should've been a goal kick; Bardsley only got a yellow for a studs-up lunge on Rose; Llorente was booked within three minutes of coming on for a foul yet numerous Burnley fouls went unpunished; Foyth had his shirt ripped yet the foul was given against him; Heaton saved a Foyth header yet he gave Burnley a goal kick 2. Danny Rose was lucky not to be, and it does have to be said he was going in hard on Rose in the match we had back in December too please log in to view this image
Bottling it is a wum fan thing at best or a wum pundit phone in money making thing at worst. Rachel Riley was got rid of by Sky after saying we bottled the title losing to West Ham ... even though we had won the previous 10 games. For a referee to make such a remark is disgracefully unprofessional. Any such comment would surely mean an immediate suspension from officiating. For that reason I can not believe he said anything like that.
So once again, a 'new Spursy' performance came to pass when opportunity was calling loud. Take injuries and player fatigue off the excuse list too for yesterday.
IMO Poch lost the game with his team selection and then his substitutions. He is normally very conservative with the subs but here he was very offensive taking of predominately defensive players and bringing on attacking players. He went for it, tried to be brave but it backfired. We would not have conceded that second goal had Foyth been on the pitch. And it was a big mistake trying to do that against a team who were attacking us as opposed to a busparquet team.
I'm glad Poch went for it. The ball trickled past 2 of our defenders before it got to Barnes, they should have done better. 6 points off the top 33 to play for...it's still on.
Apologies if this has already been posted. Just saw this alarming stat.. We have played 77 games so far this season and last. 65 league 12 cup games. In that time we lost 18 games. In those we lost 9 out of 15 with Dean as the ref 9 out of 62 with all other refs.
That is an astonishing stat - and you can't help feeling that there is a linked underlying frustration that may have sparked the Poch response yesterday.
Need to see the source data (15 out of 77 games seems a lot for one particular ref - unless 5 refs all were in change of 15 games each etc) .
Add to the obvious thing you are looking for there: There are 17 select group of referees which means each ref should have managed appx 5 of our games . NOT 15!
Since the start of the 2016/2017 season we have lost 18 PL games. The referees we have had in those defeats are: Mike Dean 4 Anthony Taylor 4 Michael Oliver 2 Jonathan Moss 2 Robert Madley Craig Pawson Mike Jones Andre Marriner Kevin Friend Stuart Atwell Mike Dean and Anthony Taylor also refereed our domestic cup defeats last season to WHU and United.
