Well, that was a very enjoyable half. Some of the best footie I've seen from us in a long time. Werner has been Werner, Bentancur needs to sort his feet out and Romero to stay awake, but otherwise everyone has been excellent.
2-0 HT. Absolutely dominant until the opener, then we decided to sit back and hit them on the break, for some reason. That did lead to the 2nd goal, admittedly, but it also let Brighton create a number of decent chances. Need another one to hurt their confidence and we also need to start getting back on the ball more, too.
Very decent half. Kulu, Maddison and Solanke been really good and Romero's passing out from the back has been great.
I’m going to put this out there, as I’m interested in other people’s opinions. Is Solanke a better player for Ange’s style than Kane? I have been so impressed with him the last few games. I’m not debating who the better player is, just who is better for the style Ange plays. I think it’s pretty close
Continue going over their back line, and more goals will come. 3-0 and they will have to risk it all or drop back much further.
Not sure if it's us or that we are playing against Brighton and their high line or the weed I'm smoking but we seem like a smooth flowing machine today Werner needs a goal but needs to be a top goal not one off his backside kind of thing...his legs start wobbling when hes got a shot on.
I can’t help singing that in my head everytime he gets the ball. Its the same with Philogene at Villa!!
Kane was smart enough to play ange ball , look back at the link up with Son , Solanke is becoming a decent replacement though
We've never seen Kane in Ange’s system barring the pre-season game vs Shakhtar right before he left. He scored 4 goals in that though lol. Solanke’s game has been very impressive the last few games though and I hope he keeps it up but I’d say Kane can do everything he can and more, especially finishing. As good as Solanke’s been so far, he’s fluffed about 4 or 5 decent chances in games that Kane would’ve probably scored 90% of.
Kane covered plenty of the pitch for us but regarding the intensity of the closing down which is paramount for our system then maybe Solanke does work better for us...sharper, quicker closing Regarding finishing off chances it's not a debate as we both know.
I agree with both yours and Alfie’s points but what I would add is that Solanke’s pressuring is outstanding and way ahead of what Kane would do. That’s massively underrated in what he brings to the team
