My stepfather took me to watch Spurs also when they were in Div2 (late 40's) at the Park Lane end....and the dipstick let me go to the toilet on my own.Naturally I got lost and had to find my own way home. Mum wasn't happy! Can't remember a thing about the game. He must have been standing on me!!!!!?.............and I still became a Spurs Supporter. Later,I became a Life Member of the Spurs Supporters Club in 1958. That's funny. That one no longer exists.....
Quick question, you all go on about the "Wembley" factor this season, do you see a NWHL factor next season as an excuse? It is not the old WHL so still a new ground to play home games to start with much like Wembley.
I think that NWHL will be much more intimidating for opponents than Wembley, where the acoustics are awful
I think that the new stadium will feel more like home and have a better atmosphere, but I'm sure it'll take some time to adjust to it, too. People won't be sitting in the same places or with the same people either, so it might take a while to warm up. I'm not expecting an immediate, smooth transition.
Personally think the media made much more of the Wembley-factor than we did. Pre-season, fans had to contend with a combination of angst from leaving WHL and the risks surrounding a move into temp accomodation. Yes, the results took a few weeks to come and a couple of drawers that should have been wins early on mean we are not closer on your tail, but most of us are not looking back but excited about the prospect of moving into the best designed football stadium in Europe. Will it take time to settle? Quite possibly, but if the Wembley-factor only lasted a few weeks then NWHL will be a doddle
we never "went on about the Wembley factor" ... the press and other media pundits and opposition fans on sites like this did cos we had only won two matches there out of of our last 10. A couple of us point out we have done very well being in the fight for 4th while playing all our matches away as Wembley does not feel like home...red seats...park lane and shelf side chanters all split up etc. The new WHL will be home imo so that will be no problem...City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and United strengthening will be a huge problem though. However all of those bar City possibly could say the same thing about the other 5 too.
No, no, no - we did go on about the Wembley hoodoo...mainly by pointing out what utter bollocks the pundits were spouting about some so-called hoodoo.
A salute to all the Spurs fans that had to put up with travelling to and from their homes to Wembley......especially night games, with the thought of work the next day!
I see Herr Klopper not very happy after the WBA game. Well, you've had a good run what more do you want. Oh,by the way. Harry gave all the other PL goalscorers practically a month's start. He hardly scores in August and he's missed games through injury since.....and only one has scored more.Well done Harry!
Given Spurs may yet finish on 80 pts (6 pts less than last season) , the only "excuse" next season may be the same as this. Specifically : we could not compensate for the rest of the PL bending over backwards in the first half of the season for the eventual champions to give us a chance of catching them.
