Budget signing with a budget performance When will Spurs learn that you need to buy quality if you want quality performances
Typical: 45 minutes ago people were calling for Davies to come on, with Dier moved to RCB and Lenglet to CCB Now we bring on Davies because Lenglet's gone Jon Moxley
2-2 FT. Another ****, slow start and scrambled, late comeback. Stupid and predictable, as was the **** refereeing and dogshit punditry from a scumbag. Brentford were very, very lucky to get a point in the end, as they ran out of steam badly.
What’s the master plan? go full pelt both halves from game 19 onwards? 4 goals a game premier league in the bag
What a strange team we are, last 30 minutes only 1 winner and unlucky not to win the game. Brentford are a horrible team to play against and thats a good point. Sanchez made a good contribution when he came on and Lenglet can certainly cross a ball. Generally happy with a point after the first hour but this conceding first and conceding multiple goals has got to stop.
On the plus side at least we didn’t have to witness an Emerson disasterclass. Cherish the micro positives, lads, we ain’t getting much more this season.
If anything, Conte persisting with players in roles they had in August and not budging If we lined up with Dier at RCB and Lenglet at CCB, instead of CCB and LCB respectively, the back three would've been better balanced - and we'd have been spared Tanganga ****ting the bed royally Same can be said with him seeing Bissouma as a Kante-type DM, when if we used him as a box to box midfielder today he'd have been more effective at rebuffing Brentford's press
I thought Doherty and Kulusevski’s linkup in the first half was the only bright spot of the first 45 tbh. Left side remains dysfunctional though, Perisic had a good game but Son remains out of sorts. Trouble is that without Richy, there isn’t an alternative that Conte is likely to start. Ah it’s nice to have Spurs back though isn’t it. Welcome back to the grind.
Perisic. Play Sessegnon or Davies as LWB and push the Croatian forward. He did absolutely **** all in the first half, which might be because he's knackered. Not convinced he's got the legs to play wingback for 90 minutes, though.
Conte has to take the blame in spades again for another piss poor slow start to a game. But we cannot keep mitigating for the fact that there are numerous individual performances that are just woeful, irrespective of the tactical set up. Bissouma looked like he was running through treacle, Tanganga understandably looked well short of match sharpness (the manager can take the blame for that too), Dier has regressed at a rate of knots to his 2019/20 standards, and Son's inability to do anything constructive is becoming more worrying with each passing week it goes on. Forster was also shocking, his nervousness spread across an already jittery back line. Lenglet, Hojbjerg, Perisic all superb and funnily enough I thought Sanchez did quite well when he came on. Kulusevski not at his usual best but still a menace down that flank. Doherty grew into the game and can come away with his head up. But ultimately if 5 out of 11 starters give 3/10 performances away to a team who have lost at home once all season, you're going to struggle.
Just caught up with 'high'lights (for want of a better word) Thoughts? Same old, same old, so there is something fundamentally wrong somewhere and that must sit with Conte. As does the team selection which made no sense based on the coach's voiced concerns about post-WC tiredness. Kane def should have had a penalty. That's given as a foul 99/100 and was no less an offence than at least 2 or 3 others given. Toney shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a football pitch. If this was any other work place issue he would be suspended pending the outcome. Salvaging a point and ending positively will probably just continue to mask the failings... Oh well...a point at Brentford is certainly not a disaster.
Highlights: "Ben Mee wasn't looking at the ball, but Stuart Attwell is a massive, cheating ****." Something like that, anyway...
