This is all set up for a < standard > by Eriksen. If Brentford can set up like Brighton did + attack anywhere near like Villa did in that 1st half, it will be very painful. Can the CBs + MF + LB/RB move the ball forward and faster than they did last week against a similar opposition ??
With the possible exception of a seemingly resurgent Gooners, Brentford are definitely not a side we should be playing right now. Could be (another) very long afternoon I fear...
Training video: I'm steadily convincing myself of my own stupid idea about our set-pieces. The dummies we use aren't fit for purpose. They're too small and need to be opaque. Representing an opponent's height isn't enough. Real players jump. You can't see through actual people either, so the same should be true of training apparatus.
My first thought were ' is this a CGI video ' because I've not seen any free kicks like this since the odd one or two that Eriksen had and before that when Bale would take them
So easy to do a Pareto fix. Get all your squad to do a vertical jump from standing. H1 is the height of your tallest player. H2 is the best leap height in your squad. The training dummies are set to be a height of H1 + H2. Since you are also training GK using a wall defence, the dummies by definition have to be opaque.
What a huge day for Spurs. I know United have beaten us twice this season but in their current state I'd much rather face them at home than Brentford away. Brentford are in fine form but let's not forget apart from our last game so are we and if anything playing away suits us better as we are fantastic on the break. If we turn up today we will win without sounding arrogant - we have better players. Hopefully Sessegnon comes in today for Reguilon. Let's hope we see the real Spurs today.
There’s a positive situation for us in every outcome in the Ars v Utd match which the Ars are currently leading in 1-0 Our need for the 3 points should be enough to have us in beast mode tonight tbh but I don’t have total faith in the team showing this mentality. It’s all about the minerals tonight…we should be winning. Hoping to get some joy though because if I’m not mistaken, Brentford are quite an expansive team which usually suits us.
Brentford are playing without fear and with nothing to lose whereas we are desperate to get top four. We all know how this ends.
This week them lot got to ask the question first. We shall know the reply from Spurs in a few hours ....
It's OK its just another cup final for us - You know those games we always come up short in, add the pressure of chasing and only 1 winner today and you can bet Eriksen will either score or make the winner. .
Big game today for Sess (Conte duly making the point to Reg) . I hope Hojbjerg + Emerson + the back three had a long training session this week where they did nothing but control + pass the ball forward N metres in one second (they would have if I were coach) .
Hoping for a split second Eriksen forgets who he’s playing for today and chips a typically blinding through ball to Kane. Can’t lie, not gonna enjoy watching him against us… This one’s a personal one for me, one of my all time favourite Spurs players.
Interesting that Conte dropped Reguilón... shows a certain ruthlessness that could make all the difference. Genuinely hate these matches where it's a must win situation cos we have often come up short. Hopefully this'll be more 2010 than 2012
Must win tonight, we all know what Spurs usually do in these situations. Prove us all wrong Tottenham and make this a comfortable victory.
Ajer misses out for Brentford after being hit in the head with a ball in training and concussed. Must be very annoying.
