Tottenham defender Eric Dier on 5 live: "We're really happy to be in the final after a really difficult game against a very good side, Brentford are just as good as a lot of teams in the Premier League.

"Every game is difficult, credit to Brentford they were very well organised. We knew if we were right in our approach we had the mentality to win.

"I felt it was offside straight away but I didn't know how close it was. If the technology was right then there's nothing to complain about really.

"We are trying to compete in every competition. This was our first chance to reach a final and we have taken it."

Tottenham goalscorer Moussa Sissoko, speaking to Sky Sports: "We are all very happy, it’s been a long time and we’ve been waiting for that moment.

"We played a great game against a great team but we deserved to win. Now we’re going to go to Wembley and play either Manchester United or Manchester City.

"We'll be ready, doesn’t matter who we are going to play, let’s be ready for that game and hopefully we can win the trophy.

"It was good to score an early goal. I think we controlled the game and we scored the second goal in the second half and we deserved it. All the fans will be happy, now let’s be ready for the next game on Sunday."

On Brentford's disallowed goal: "I was sure it was offside because I could see [Ivan Toney] was behind me, so I was sure he was offside and the VAR showed it but again, let’s enjoy it and go to the final."

On reaching the final: "We are in the final so it’s the time to win it. The last final we reached was the Champions League final and we lost, so we were disappointed for many months. To play a final at Wembley, you don’t want to just play a final - you want to win it and we will try our best to win and bring the trophy home."

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho, speaking to Sky Sports: "It’s a game that takes us to a final to, probably, but I hope not, an empty Wembley final but of course I’m very happy. We’ve had London derbies and other games but this is the match that took us to a final.

"The final is now in a pocket for three months, we have to wait for the final so we have to focus on what we have coming up. We have the FA Cup, the Premier League, the Europa league, so let’s forget the final for now. But when April arrives we have to be ready and to fight for the trophy.

"The game was always under control, They had the offside goal, when the ball goes in the air you cannot press the ball, you just have to try to get to the first and second ball.

"There was penetration on the right side and Davinson Sanchez was clever not to touch the guy. We didn’t play brilliantly, sometimes wrong decisions, sometimes one more touch, not with that soft control that allows you to play fast but the game is always under control against a team that will probably be in the Premier League next year."

On the red card decision: "I didn’t see it, I just saw the leg, I just saw the blood but apart from that I didn’t have time to look."

As has been said, I also liked that Jose forced Hojbjerg off after the tackle. You could see Pierre telling everyone he was fine and wanted to get on for the last 5 or so minutes but Jose pushed him back and outright said “no”. Was zero need to risk any potential aggravation to the injury, glad Jose stood his ground there.

One observation of yesterday's game , Its obvious we need a player who can take free kicks and corners , actually it wasn't just yesterdays game we have been woeful for years at dead ball situations

I never paid on the trains...ever. My cousin used to live near to a station that was unattended outside of peak commuter hours. He used to collect up discarded tickets. One in a hundred, or so, hadn't printed properly and the date was illegible. That ticket was gold dust...as long as you didn't get it clipped. Unclipped, you could use it again and again.

    Cup finals are one-off games.
Either would be very wary of Spurs based on their most recent encounters.
