Would i have booed sanchez if I was there today? In the moment, probably yes. Does he deserve it, probably not.

A lot of frustration to take out though on everything at the moment and sadly it seems he felt the brunt of it today.

He does pretty much summarise every issue that this current squad has though. Huge fee spent, never ever been good enough or shown he may become good enough yet is still the go to player in the squad when we need a change at centre back under several different managers.

Players hanging round like a bad smell as no one is stupid enough to pay us a penny for them. Going to have double figures for these type of players once the loanees are back in the summer. Hopefully we make it clear a few aren’t welcome and come up with some mutual terminations as it’s the only way we’re getting rid of most of them while they’re still under contract.

Injuries to Bentancur and (to a lesser degree) Bissouma have completely ripped us open, every team.. even those at the bottom of the league are dominating us. Hojbjerg and Skipp are just not up to it, we could probably get away with either of these two alongside a real top class midfielder, but both together is a real drop off. They are both squad players at best and would Sarr really be any worse than either. I`d like to see Hojbjerg replaced with a top class CM next season, Skipp is younger and homegrown, and arguably still developing, so should kept in the squad.

Bissouma only started 7 league games for us this season (we lost 4 of them) before his injury and surgery, so I don't think he is relevant to the conversation. There is no question he wasn't utilised properly by Conte and equally no question that the Italian didn't want to sign him in the first place. However, that doesn't change the fact that he is a quality player and we will hopefully see him at his best under a new manager next season.

No question Bentancur is a huge miss but even prior to his injury, we were kind of stuttering along very unconvincingly, scraping most wins and losing through very limp performances.

Mid-season it isn't possible to change the quality of a side. The one thing that can be changed is the tactical set up. It genuinely baffles me that we have sustained this many injuries and still insist on playing a system that clearly wasn't working even when we had everyone fully fit. We have one fit RWB who is clearly still adapting to the PL, no fit LWBs, a leaky defence and two CMs who will work hard and run around a lot but ultimately one (Hojbjerg) has a mid-table ceiling while the other (Skipp) is still young and his experience has largely come playing for a series of crap managers.

I cannot understand the insistence on playing this broken system, I really can't. Add Sarr into the midfield and go 4-3-3 for the rest of the season, especially if Lenglet is out for a period of time. So many square pegs in round holes everywhere I look. Give the midfield a fighting chance of controlling a game, cease relying on poor wide men for creativity and work from there.

One of the core reasons you need a manager in the first place is to set up tactics and adapt the players to the situation and the opponent. If on the other hand you are always going to play the same system all you need is a team picker. The captain can do that. I am reliably informed that Conte is a great manager, and his record would suggest so but for me he has clearly demonstrated that he has no tactical ability he just relies on having better players than the opposition in his team. Stellini just showed his complete lack of understanding of tactics and who has been his teacher?

This is a modern phenomenon that is maybe caused by the ability of top clubs being able to buy players from all over the world. If you look at Venables for example or even Gerry Francis they both varied their tactics and would even change them in a game. I argued the other day (tongue in cheek) for Sean Dyche to be our manager but he certainly has more tactical nous than Conte has shown.

Spurs do not need a system manager (City and Chelsea will always buy better players right now) we need a manager like Hodgson (everyone moans) who understands how to adapt a team and alter tactics to suit what players are available and who we are playing.

Can't argue with that.
However, I would add, that in addition to being able / flexible to change things mid-season, mid-week or mid-match, a basic ability of a good coach should be to inspire confidence in the players they send out.
What is obvious from the pathetic on-field capitulations is that player confidence is fragile (to put it mildly).
Yesterday was a perfect example. Start positively, players showing some cohesion, go a goal up, then at the first sign of adversity it all slips away. And a brief late revival doesn't cover for that weakness, sadly.

Agree, playing players out of their natural positions does nothing for their confidence and rigid systems force players to adapt. Instead we should be adapting our play to our players strengths. The only player who has that luxury in our team is Harry Kane. We should get Harry Redknapp back,he would make an immediate impact and bring the joy back into the squad. No joy, no confidence.

The Levy out chants should have been far louder than the boos for individual players

but these match goers are weak as ****…it’s a day out after all.
