The three minutes or so leading up to Kane's second goal might have been our most impressive stretch of the year, albeit against a dispirited and injury-wracked team. Crisp passing, lovely bits of skill, (the highlight being Dembélé’s pirouette which as so often with Dembéle’s pieces of skill, got us nowhere) and a lightning quick break leading to a perfect pass from Erikson. But if their keeper hadn’t had one of the worst games I can imagine a keeper having, we could have lost. It goes to show how important confidence is in a game in which the margins are always fine. An easy pick for worst pen miss of the year should have been Kane’s fourth. Boruc grabbed at the ball, missed, found he had grabbed Kane’s foot instead, and lifted. Excellent performances from Dier, Dembélé, Eriksen and Kane today. We’ve played well in the PL this year, and now our GD reflects it, though not our points. Our list of goal scorers was perfect today: a Kane hat-trick, Dembélé off the mark, and Lamela with another easy one. If we can keep scoring goals...well, we’ll see, but we’ve played well so far...in the league, but not in the cups. The combination of one touch passing and hunting in packs has made life difficult for our opponents. So far.
I didn't have the time to watch the whole game, but I did watch the MOTD highlights. Watching reminded me just what a class act Eriksen is! Almost certainly a step up in class from any other player we have. I hope to god he stays fit, we're not the same threat without him.
"We’ve played well in the PL this year, and now our GD reflects it, though not our points." Points per GD, for each third of the PL table, is a good coarse measure of performance wrt your peers. So with 10 games gone, Spurs current GD suggests they should be on 19-20 pts instead of 17. With the 2 pts thrown away against Stoke, Spurs are exactly where the measure says they probably should be. The current undefeated run, and low GA, are IMHO the most notable areas of our PL season to date.
Eriksen was MOTM and has been I agree our best player so far this year. When he’s on he’s a joy to watch. I think Rose may play because he creates a little more space on Eriksen’s side than Davies does, though Davies has been better than Rose overall this year. While the numbers of GD versus points seem about right, the problem this year has been bad finishing. If the results reflected the run of play, I think we should have six wins and four draws, and quite possibly seven wins and three draws. WhoScored stats, which IMO tend to be three quarters on the money to one quarter wildly implausible, have us as the third highest rated team in the league. I think that’s right: over the first ten games we’ve played better football than anyone bar City and Arsenal. Tbf. we finished extraordinarily well last year, and it does seem the good luck we had getting the ball in the net has turned to bad luck this year--except for for the City and Bournemouth games.
I quite like that guy, doesn't take things too seriously. Much better than Arsenal Fan TV with those same handful of morons going on 5 minute rants each week.
Didn't get to see the game as I was on the ferry coming back from our trip to Belgium via Dunkirk, the ferry had very basic wifi access so was trying to keep up to date with the live score app and BBC written commentary. Kept losing signal and last saw it at 3-1 before re-connecting it to see 5-1 about 20 mins later to which we all cheered and got funny looks from surrounding passengers lol. Saw the MOTD highlights, Boruc had an absolute mare and was at fault for three goals, nonetheless the hat trick will have done Harry the world of good and it's also nice seeing Lamela on the score sheet again which will no doubt continue to boost his confidence game-by-game and a goal for Dembele was so deserved after his Liverpool performance. That's two big score line wins this season against City and Bournemouth while also maintaining a very decent defensive record, we're definitely taking shape under Poch, so excited at the potential in players and the coaching staff.
I came out of Dunkirk harbor and hit a miniature tsunami one year,SOS.I thought "Oh crap.I can't swim and I've got a ticket to watch Spurs on Wednesday." A man must know his limitations!!!!!!
I couldn't think of anything worse! My sea-sickness is beyond a joke, any form of shake or up & down motion and I need to either get outside on the deck for air or run to the loo to spew up.
