Saw the game in a bar in Soller, here in Mallorca. Wonderful performance by Spurs and so controlled, despite going one down early on. Well done all around.
So where are all the critics? Where are all the "The way Spurs fans are going on you'd think they'd won the CL, small club mentality" brigade? Where are all the "You'll get knocked out in the next round" hopefuls? Come on you lot, give us something to shout back at you. Can only be a matter of time before we convert all these chances we're making.
As usual, BBC reaction to last night's games focussing almost entirely on us and barely mentions Liverpool (as of 10am anyway). https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/46535493 Only kidding. It's a freaking Scouse fest.
As a devotee of Nemesis, and having an overnight ponder on this, I think you may be correct LDL. So I am going to put 50 quid on it (in Christmas cheer) .
We should also be very flattered by the obvious respect at the club level that Barca have for Spurs. Everyone could see that they were playing only not to lose their current home CL run, and that if they won it would be down to a moment of brilliance or a bad Spurs mistake.
Well there is jaffaklopp's post where he copy & pasted a bunch of comments from us saying how we seemed more interested in their game than their own Who wants to explain to him the obvious self-own in his argument?
A question I must ask Why were Winks and KWP our 2 men sitting back away to Barca in the first 10 minutes just because we have a free kick? MP is the man however I see things like this as serious lack of attention to detail. Fine margins but very important I think if you want to be a top class team.
The part that I couldn't understand is why Rose was the one running over the ball for the free kick that led to Barca breaking for 1-0...not least because I hate the whole palava of somebody coming forward at a set piece just to run past the ball before the bloke everyone knows will be taking it does anyway
Currently 25. I am betting regardless, but waiting til after the KO draw in case we get a "big fish" (in which case the odds will grow) .
I'd say that it's because they're small, so unlikely to score from a cross into the box and pretty fast, so pretty good at covering a breakaway. It makes sense for Toby and Jan to be in their box and Moussa to be clearing up the initial clearance, which he did pretty well. I'm torn on whether an error such as KWP made is anyone else's fault? I'm not sure that it is. Moussa gave him a difficult ball but the young lad froze a bit and Dembele was on him. At least he didn't get himself sent off fouling the bloke, which probably would have done for us. Apart from that one lapse, he played well and will be much stronger for the experience.
KWP thought he had more time- because at the level he is used to playing, they normally do. Parallel KWP's mistake and Foyth's. How they come back from it.......
"I'm walking backwards for Chrissstmas, across the Irish Sea, I'm walking backwards for Chrissstmas,it's the only thing for me. I've tried walking backwards and walking to the front, but everyone thinks it's a publicity stunt!" I feel as nutty as Spike Milligan after this one!!!!!!!?
Dembele still had a lot to do, it took a class player to score from that position. Shouldn't be too hard on the kid, he made up for it with the block on Couthinho, that was a rocket and had it been on target (hard to say because KWP closed him down so quickly), Lloris would have been second favourite.
