Massive, massive win. The first “big win” in god knows how long to be honest. We really needed that. Emery’s Villa are a quality outfit. Solanke’s best 45 in a Spurs shirt, worked hard as he’s often done but got himself around the goal (finally) and finished a couple chances, first one was great. Sarr Sarr Toure done really well in the second half too. Dragusin a rock at the back. When we let him purely defend he excels at it, as we saw at the Euros. Good to see Maddison getting on the scoresheet, the right reaction after being dropped. Thought Ange initially got the subs wrong but everything played out well in the end so fair play to him. Get in, boys. Well in.
Great win after a poor first half. Brilliant for Solanke and a top performance from Sarr among others.
Brilliant second half. Much more like it! Despite being 7th, we’ve got the 2nd best goal difference in the league now. - keep that up, and it’ll potentially come in handy at the end of the season. COYS.
I understand lower-placed PL teams doing busparquet against the PL top third, even though tis painful to watch Spurs battle it. But 3 successive games of Emery ball at WHL, sooner or later their luck was going to run out.
We've scored more goals than anyone at this stage, unless Chelsea score 4+ later. The post-Kane catastrophe hasn't materialised, we just need a bit more consistency in the spread of our goals, it's nice scoring 3 or 4 at a time, but in the games like Palace and Leicester you just need 1 or 2 to go in and you'll take points home.
Excellent performance second half (wasn’t that bad first but just didn’t quite have enough going forwards). Sarr, amazing performance. Solanke, finally gets the reward for the excellent work he has done leading the line without much luck. Dragusin following up Wednesday with another good performance. Bringing Davies on for Romero seemed a stroke of luck as those two look so more solid when protecting a lead. And to top it all off, a direct free kick!!!! Well go above Arsenal if we beat Ipswich (for a couple of hours anyway)
I always felt we were a better team than Villa same as last season. We just need more experience to capitalise on our quality If we could sign a midfield tough guy that would be exciting.
Completely agree on the point about the spread, think I mentioned similar the other week and it’s where I feel a striker is the one to make that difference in tight games, today Solanke finally done that. I really hope this is a platform he builds on now, all the hard graft is fine but no one remembers a striker that doesn’t score goals.
Solanke also now equals Havertz’s tally in the league. My hope is regained after taking that bet with Pinkie, was beginning to get very concerned lol.
Nah Spurly does the name and avatar ones, I just stick to avatars lol. 6 month bet on the line. Pray for me
Just bumped into my boss the Villa season ticket holder as I left the ground. Apparently I'm on toilet cleaning duty next week....
I know Spurs have beaten Utd and City but that’s the best win of the season for me. Couldn’t afford to lose today so a win today was huge. Just need to go on a run and hopefully climb the league table.
Interesting comments from Joe Hart about Ange's in-game management during half time. Said he has never worked with a manager who made as many effective tweaks at HT as Ange does. Considering the managers Hart has worked with, that's pretty high praise.
