Playing at home to a bang average Villa and Ben Davies has been our best player this half. Says it all really....
Let's see what pearls of wisdom are in the BBC live tracker... "Kane is too slow for the modern game. Spurs should sell him at the end of the season and get fresh legs in." - Brad, definitely a Spurs fan, don't ask...
Utterly awful. Villa have kept their entire team behind the ball but we are so slow and lacking in imagination. Son needs an extended spell out of the team now. For his own good as well as ours. It is actually painful watching him. Bring on Spence, shift Doherty onto the left flank and move Perisic further forward.
Dreadful. Poor touch, going down dead ends and losing out in a foot race with Young... He won't be here next season that's for sure...
Obviously Kulu is a big miss but without Bentacur we just have no creativity in the middle of the park. Doherty and Peresic out wide have been neat and tidy but there's just no pace or thrust. I'd be tempted to bring on Spence for Peresic and play Doherty on the left.
Well at least we are not losing! New year same old **** - Son awful again I have reached the point where I am thinking putting Sessegnon and moving Perisic to LW might help, in what world is Sess for Son a sensible sub - this world today we're ****ed and we will definitely finish this with 10 men.
Frightful thought. Though I’d rather do as CK said, bring Spence on for Son, Doherty LWB and Perisic LW.
We’ll probably end up making one or two CB subs though due to the yellows. Dier and Sanchez on before 60mins I reckon.
I think Skipp is a far more creative player than Bissouma and the latter once again looks confused as to what his role is meant to be (I've got a growing suspicion that Conte never actually wanted to sign him). Problem is every time Conte uses Skipp, he seems to play him as a makeshift RAM which is a total waste of his ability.
We’ve looked like having a bit more control and have limited their chances but it’s been a bit pedestrian at times. One of those games where the marginal/dodgy refereeing calls feel all the worse because we just need a bit of a breakthrough here. Midfield looks a bit blunt without Bentancur, Kane barely in the game, Son woeful again and Gil is struggling to make an impact because the front 3 are a bit starved of the ball. Here’s hoping for the typical second half rise in tempo. CBs on yellows worries me a bit.
Conte’s trying to play Bissouma as a DM and because of that we don’t see the best of him… it’s like AVB and Paulinho all over again.
Also just a word about this bellend of a ref. Booked Davies and Romero for aggressive but ball-winning tackles, bought the Villa theatrics hook line and sinker. Meanwhile ignores two of the most blatant yellows you'll see all season from the away team. It's hard enough watching us at the moment without moronic officials making it even harder.
