I used to write the gooner match threads and some on here liked them so I thought I would add my view to @PleaseNotPoll s excellent threads. I ASKED HIS PERMISSION...so if this annoys you...blame him So the new season is here and we get to watch a new Spurs team after Pochettino and Levy tried a new and novel approach in the transfer window and actually bought players. Pochettino sobbing and slowly rocking back and forth during the pre season post match press conferences finally persuaded Levy that his financial prudence was in danger of making Pochettino go the full Collymore. There were some surprises which saw Eriksen's come get me plea to Real Madrid met with a "nah mate we're fine" response, and Danny Rose being wummed by Newcastle who offered him a pay cut rather than "what he is worth"...mind you if he were paid his his weight in Mars Bars he'd have bankrupted Mike Ashley Eriksen has said he will get his head down and give his best for spurs and Rose just ate another deep fried Mars bar...in one go...while unwrapping a kitkat for pudding. I mustn't forget Toby who is doing a stirling job pretending that it doesn't bother him that him turning down a £70,000 a week pay rise from us 18 months ago has currently cost him over £6m. We welcome Aston Villa to WHL for this match...well, when I say welcome I mean we will be hating on John "I ain't a racist, I just like white hats" Terry while @Dier Hard will be laying out a carpet of rose petals for the love of his life. Villa have brought in more than a dozen players this transfer window but have only just realised that their new formation of 8-6-7 is not allowed in the premier league. Last year we proved ourselves to be the least polite in the "no, after you" pigeon step race to 4th spot with United and Arsenal forcing us in to 4th with the sheer quality of their crapness. Liverpool have strengthened by buying a 16 year twat who thinks lying constitutes an apology and a keeper too **** to make the West Ham Bench. City have strengthened by buying their 78th full back in the reign of he who must not be criticised at a cost that would make Rooney's monthly prostitute bill seem almost reasonable. United strengthened by selling Fat Boy Not Slim and Everton strengthened by spending £40m on Iwobi .... yep you read that correctly...FORTY MILLION POUNDS....mind you , in fairness that is only about €2000. Arsenal strengthened by spending spending £170m to compensate for still having Ozil. I was lucky enough to be at our 125 match v Villa in 2008...the last 19 minutes were amoung the most absorbing, passionate drama filled minutes of football I have seen live as we came back from 4-1 to 4-4....90 minutes of that would be a great start to the season ... so watch us put in a performance which instead mstches the openning 71 mins of the 125 match COYS
There's one thing to consider: if we play a three-man midfield, either in a 433 or a diamond, the pairing of Ndombele & Sissoko will be more than enough to more or less literally sit on opponents and allow Winks/Skipp to operate as a Jorginho-style DM, whose role is less to break up play and more to intercept the passes that Ndombele/Sissoko force the opponents into making and then recycle possession quickly - at which point it is less of an issue that Winks is a conservative passer if his out ball is either one of Ndombele/Sissoko who looks to drive forward with power, a full back looking to get down the wing at pace, or Lo Celso who can cause damage with pace, trickery, or a killer ball
Yes and yes. He returned to light training a week ago so I'd imagine he's still 3-4 weeks away from full fitness.
Liverpool's first title in 30 years or City's hat-trick? Erm......good luck Spurs - start well because that's usually your weakness.
Be interesting when Arsenal plays and the sign says “thanks for coming from South of the river” or Utd, with “thanks for popping over”. It’s too ‘nice’ though. Don’t want Spurs being one of those nice sides. Should read “thank you for travelling 116 miles to be here but it’ll feel like 232 miles on the way back once you’ve been Tanguy’d”.
Villa and Wednesday fans are taking the piss out of Fulham for signing Josh Onomah If only there was a way for Onomah's former teammates to stand up and defend him...
At last we actually start the season with a HOME game and in our new stadium ,no more at that souless Wembley which should make a massive difference to us .we lost far too many games in the league last season and this is a great chance to overtake our points tally from last season and also go for some silverware.
