I put a fiver on 0-0 today at 9-1 as I thought it would be typical Spurs result after the hammering they got the other day that they would stick 11 men behind the ball. There's only one team come to play that's for sure.
Ha ha true!! I don't want to sound negative as we are playing really well. I would rather we were a bit **** and winning though!
Villa make an enforced change. Ireland on for Baker. Lambert probably would've wanted to make one at half-time anyway, to be honest.
Has a home side ever failed to get out of their own half less times than the opposition have had corners, yet gone in level at the break? Apparently the highest number of corners by one side in a Premier League game is 20. We nearly matched that already. Shows how crap we are at set-pieces, doesn't it?
On the positive side we look pretty solid in defence and dominant in midfield. We need to score early doors in the second half though and then we need to keep Villa's heads well and truly down. I refuse to relax even a tiny bit until we're 2 up. If we get there. If we keep this first half tempo up then surely it's only a matter of time though right? Naughton still doesn't convince me at RB one little bit. Defensively he's pretty sound but he basically doesn't have a left foot. I think he's fine backup for Walker at RB but I'd rather see Verts at LB, press comments or not. COYS, big second half now lads!
Would love to know the conversion rate from corners to chances to goals from Spurs... has to be the worst in the PL, and not just this game either
I know this has been discussed already but I think Danny Rose deserves another chance. According to most of the Sunderland fans he has been their player of the season so far and that he was MOTM today in their win over Man City. I never thought I would think this but I think selling him could be a mistake. Benny is pushing 30 now and we need some serious competition and I think he would give it. Back to the game I totally agree if we don't score early this has 0-0 or 0-1 written all over it.
Villa make a 2nd change. Westwood off (did he do anything?) for the more forward-thinking Albrighton.
A little bit too much faffing around in midfield for my liking which is allowing Villa time to get men behind the ball. Adebayor doesn't look especially interested (again), and as ever, Naughton looks like a championship player playing in the PL.
