Kane had the whole flight of the ball from the corner to judge the header whereas Soldado only had a fraction of that from a deflection about ten yards away. Soldado would have scored if confident though, just the sort of chance he used to put away before he joined us. I agree on Ade: AVB was right to leave him out and I think his reinstatement by Sherwood is part of the reason for the lack of cohesion in the team. If you get selected despite lack of effort it sends out a bad message to everyone else.
I believe Bentaleb is injured or recently returned from injury Spurm, if you meant where is he on my list of players who aren't just playing for themselves...well he'd probably be on it too to be fair. In terms of the young blood vs. seasoned pro argument I think its a matter of balance as ever. We need players like Lloris, Kaboul and Soldado who have been in the game for a good time to set an example and provide the leadership and guidance for the likes of Kane, Dier, Mason and co.
Bentaleb picked up an ankle injury with Algeria. He'll probably be back in time for the next international break, so he can do it again.
I enjoy this video lots https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMO2Mnegj1I&app=desktop Apologies if its been posted already
Yeah, i meant as in injury. I wasn't a massive fan of his tbh, but right now i'd slot him in next to Mason. I'd even put my arch nemesis Townsend in the team. Kaboul needs to be dropped. I'd like to see: Lloris Naughton Dier Verts Rose Mason Bentaleb Townsend Eriksen Chadli Kane
It has, PNP posted, but it's a great video. And presumably shot by a Villa supporter. Not sure I'd have kept it running after losing in the last minute, much less uploaded it.
According to the description on the clip, the guy that shot it is an author doing a tour of grounds for a book.
Cheers, I hadn't seen the earlier link. That's a truly enjoyable video. You have to be glad for the away support, who surely deserved something like this. I'm tempted to see if I can pick out SOS from his description of being there!
Yes,I used to be that crazy when I was younger.Pity we get older and have to think more about our team. We could lose 8-0 and I'd still argue we were still better than anyone else.Oh to be young again!!!!!
Both clubs have been charged by the FA with failure to ensure that their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion, for the events that lead to Benteke's red card. Are they taking the piss?
The FA can't fine referees, as that would make people believe that Premier League referees are incompetent.
No, that would never make me question my faith in PL referees. It's interesting to see cultural differences in evaluating on the field scuffles. By football standards the FA was saying that was a fairly big deal (I actually wouldn't argue). In American sports anything below a hard, closed fist punch is ignored, and even a punch isn't that big a deal. I watched a good right cross land in a baseball fight. I think the player might have been suspended for a game or two. In the Canadian national past time even clean knock outs are winked at. The idea is that since young men hit each other all the time, it's not a big deal if it happens during a game. But there are things that are verboten. Pushing an official or, especially, spitting on anyone, for example, will result in a long suspension. Use of illegal drugs is now treated about the same in American sports. Baseball used to wink at steroid use. Now it doesn't, and the home run leaders hit half as many as they did at the peak of the steroid era.
Villa attempted to have Benteke's ban reduced, but it's been thrown out. Not sure what grounds they thought that they had, to be honest.
I thought when you became an adult you should be able to control yourself. I sympathise with the refs when nonsense like that kicks off, other than booking everyone involved there's not an awful lot they can do and even that doesn't stop the actual incident at the time.
Yeah, I think both Lamela and Mason deserved yellows, all things considered, but Bentecke earned his red.
