Another factor worth consideration is that this would be Sandro's 3rd game in a very short while, which again leads me to think Harry will go with Parker - assuming Parker is fuly fit of course,.
but why? when you have had 2 magnificant performances..your on a roll..full of confidence..helped your team win 2 out of 2..we have conceded 1 goal and scored 6...so apart from the fact that it is Harry's choice...it seems illogical to me...unless you think that Parker will be a better option against villa's park the bus tactics?
now that makes sense..however PNP suggested the same and i said it is only another 2 games to go so if he does burn out we have got Parker to get off the bench...unless due it being his 3rd start..it could mean that his performance risks being leggy compared to the previous 2.....in which case spot on...Parker should start.
Yes, a player showing lots of energy at this stage of the season is undoubtedly an asset, and Sandro has certainly shown that. Yet I stil believe he has more work to do before he can be considered a better and more long term choice ahead of Parker. But of course, it's not always wise to change a winning team, which would mean Sandro staying put, and as I did say, that wouldn't worry me. This is actually going to be a tight game and I think Harry will do what he usually does in these situations and stick with his tried and trusted, which would mean Parker getting the nod.
fair play Spurcat......i agree Sandro has gt alot to do to be considered better than Parker....and even though it is Villa it will be tight...i think we will have to be pateint...as they will park the bus...an early goal and we could have floodgates...will be intresting....how do you score past a bus? we always struggle.
However Sandro seems like hes full of energy.. regardless of how many matches he has played in whatever amount of days
He deserves his place sunday after his performances recently ( well bar his dancing performance ! ) but good old Harry will probably drop him as part of his new squad rotation policy
Fair comments PNP - BUT. fact is the majority of top sides haven't played two wingers since England won the World Cup in 66 without a winger at all. So you're just on a losing battle if you want to continue this - I will name side after side that won the top honours without 2 wingers, so you may as well concede defeat now. You're wrong, simple as, if you want to say that two wingers have been the preferred format for the World Cup/EC/CL/English champions since 66. Most of the top teams haven't played two wingers since that time, because it's high risk and you're liable to lose the mid battle. I can't say too much about Bayern, as I haven't seen much of them, but if Ribery and Robben play as two out and out wingers v Chelsea I'll be surprised. Chelsea will feature no wingers, and if Bayenr play 2, high risk or what. I also think Ronaldo is way more than a winger, BTW.
Here's what Zonal marking had to say about the first leg of real - v bayern The two sides set up broadly in a similar fashion. Both systems were 4-2-3-1, 'Note from GH10 - MY preferred system' ......... cont'd or at least a variation upon 4-2-3-1, and both fielded inverted wingers looking to come inside. NOTE from GH - so NOT two out and out wingers at all ....... This allowed the full-backs forward, although Realâs full-backs are always very cautious away from home in Europe, and it was Bayernâs who got forward to greater effect â most obviously Philipp Lahm in the final minute, to set up Gomezâs goal.
if villa are going to park the bus, Parker might not be the best option anyway. Sandro has the ability to go on a powerful run, as well as being able to shoot.-well. we might need something magical if villa make us play it across the box from left to right, going no where as a result. (but backwards perhaps). sandro is playing well and he might give us the better offensive option with villa's negativity. I wouldn't be surprised if villa's formation at the weekend is: 1-5-5.
Arsenal also played two wingers during their successful periods under Wenger. You could argue that they've stopped winning trophies since abandoning that, actually.
That and not playing with a defensive midfielder - it's all very well talking of keeping the ball from your opponents as the means of defence, but what's the plan for when the opponents have the ball?
Sir Bobbys statue is unveiled at St James tomorrow! I've just got the feeling he' made a deal with the gods for NUFC this season. All the best Tottenham, however I'm going to be preying you slip up tomorrow. It would be nice for us toon fans after such a horrid 6 or 7 years now. Don't get me worng I'm hoping Arsenal lose at West Brom but I want us to get 3rd now.
Sir Bobby must be the only man to have a statue at two grounds as there is also one at Ipswich. What a great man he was. You've had a great season, just be satisfied to finish 5th !!
Quite the contrast to Don Revie, the ultimate destroyer of football who is getting a statue at Leeds. No doubt alongside the spiteful cheating Billy Bremner.
i want us both 2 win our remaining fixtures..ill be happy getting 3d over you boys on goal diffrence...just to see the Nomads miss out totally
Best results would be Spurs and Newastle win and both Mancs lose setting up a superb final day of the season.
