We started a little faster moving the ball at pace but have since slowed down. That suggests Pochettino is telling them to speed it up the players need to keep it up. Katarina is a cracker PNP what's wrong with you.
Kane was offsides or it would have been a horror miss. Both sides playing at a canter, true. Players were clumping too much, but we did get it wide from time to time.
Really annoying first half hour or so, as we played predictable, slow, narrow football, but things picked up when Townsend shifted over to the left. Who knew that playing wingers on their correct side could give a team width? Silly penalty to give away, so I've no idea why he went in like that, but Townsend put it away well. The height was a bit off, but the power made it pretty unstoppable. Followed it up with a nice run and cross for Kane to do what he does, so let's hope for a professional second half and a win.
Anyone got a clue what's happened to Friedel, by the way? Is he working as a pundit on another game or something?
Another shocking, unprofessional start to a half. That's pathetic. Too many relaxed, complacent players.
Why are we committing so many players into attacks now? Keep the ball, slow it down, don't overdo the attacks. So naive.
That's a ridiculous penalty, regardless of Carlisle's claims. So, so soft. How they ended up so isolated is beyond me, though.
well they have had a good six chances in the second half.. and should be 6-2 up. So with three minutes left they should be able to have another 4 chances..
Normally commentators are so biased in favour of british teams but those 2 were willing us to lose... Shocking 2nd half .... we are so fragile in defence its unreal
Hard to feel good about that one, except we got three points. First home defeat for Asteras in Europe, I suppose that's something. The pen they got was soft, I thought. Fazio did push him in the back, but that's one that's not usually given in the PL unless certain teams need one. As everyone has said, we didn't look ready or willing to work together as a team in the second half, and were lucky it didn't cost us points. Good performances from Townsend, Dembele and Kane. Oh yeah, that's a consolation: we might have been awful in the second half, but we walked away with a win in Europe this week, unlike certain other English teams like Chelsea, Arsenal or Man City.
So much work to do and such little time to do it in. A shambles defensively and the same lack of width, no matter who we pick. Fazio will miss the Partizan game, so Chiriches might actually get some game time, but the organisation just isn't there at the moment. Still, at least one English side won in Europe, eh?
