Proper dead build up to this NLD.

First time in a while that if you were a neutral you’d barely know it was even on. Don’t even think it’s because we’re **** and Arsenal are in bad form, just feels like there’s little interest/ hype.

Similar to over the weekend, only found out the other day there was an El Clasico cup final (held in Saudi Arabia ffs) with Barca beating Madrid 5-2 to lift the super cup. That derby’s had a huge comedown post-Messi/ Ronaldo.

Can’t help but feel football’s dying a little bit. I’ve said for a while I thought player ability is in decline for potentially the first time ever but it’s now feeling like fan excitement and hype is slowly going with it.

It's possibly a reflection of the growing distance between the common fan and the clubs they'd love to support, but don't have the time or money to do so.

Your example of the El Clasico being played in Saudi Arabia is symptomatic of this. How many grassroots Real or Barca fans can afford to fly across Europe in the middle of January, when they've probably just spent a fortune over the festive period?

Sadly, this is the way the sport is heading. Look at the world cup next year. Co-hosted between Canada, America and Mexico FFS. The distances between each arena are mind-bogglingly vast, and that's after factoring in the cost of needing to cross one of two oceans to get there in the first place, plus accommodation during peak tourist season.

2030 gets even worse...opening games in South America, then the rest of it shared between Spain, Portugal and Morocco. Who can afford to participate in these things any more?

Been a really heavy fixture schedule for Spurs from Dec 1 to now.
At that rate the games really blur into each other.

2030 World Cup arrangements become even more egregious when you realise why they’ve done it. There’s a rule where each association (UEFA, CONMEBOL etc) can only host so many of a certain number of World Cups in sequence (say, 1 in 3, I can’t remember the exact rule). So by having 2030 spread across Africa, Europe and South America, it meant they could hand the Saudis the 2034 one on a plate without breaking their own rules.

Wednesday night for a game like this is a poor time imo. Should be Saturday lunchtime.

Spurs league form is horrific so a defeat seems inevitable. Arsenal aren’t out of the title race but they seem too far off Liverpool atm to really make it interesting so you can see why they’re not massively on it too.

The Goons aren't as good they think they are, but still miles better than us at this moment.
They should win easily, but there again, I'm sure City thought that too.

Porro needs to up his game defensively or we will suffer.
Personally I'd have started Djed at RB and played Reguilon.
