I mean i think if you want to be stable you need to keep a manager for a minimum of 3 years. I believe you wanted contes head after 2 right?
Martinez Holding, luiz, bellerin, tierney Ceballos, xhaka, maitland niles Pepe, aubamayang, lacazette Yup im still taking anges current players over that mob
This is where I’m at, too. Solanke the only different name in that starting XI yesterday from many team sheets we saw last season. And is he an upgrade on Richarlison? Probably not, and if so, based on evidence it’d be minimal. It’s great that the overall squad is deeper and full of young talent. - that should bode well for us in cup competitions and allow rotation to prevent injuries. But for me there’s a massive lack of balance between experience, leadership, and youth. Nothing we can do about it now though, until January at least. So we might as well play the new signings as much as possible to help us seem less predictable and cause new headaches for our opponents.
Trying to pick who’s better between Richarlison and Solanke feels like having a debate over who was better out of Emerson or Doherty. The only winner is opposition fans and teams! I’d have more sympathy for Ange if he actually played said youth tbh. So far Moore’s not played a minute and Bergvall and Gray haven’t started a game, nor did they even get off the bench yesterday. The reason we apparently didn’t sign a new first choice CM is because Ange/ the club were really impressed by the two young signings, so impressive you’re barely playing them…? All three youngsters had excellent pre-seasons too, better than some first team counterparts who are continuing to play over them. In terms of January, genuinely don’t know what sort of position we’ll be in by then. I’m no longer certain Ange will even be manager. I made this post on Spurf’s thread - https://not606.com/threads/season-predictions.413808/#post-17766095 - and so far none of the variables are looking positive.
It was. The club picked 'the future' over 'now'. The signings of Bergvall, Gray and Yang Min-hyuk, all players who do/will take up places in a squad that already cannot accommodate Spence in it (for EL games). The team really needs a better starting option on the right wing, a more dominant midfield presence and the squad needs a stronger second choice goalkeeper and a better option than Davies covering the left side of the defence (putting aside the issue of the strikers on our books). The club has chosen to bring in, and include in the squad, the players who aren't going to be ready this season and maybe, not next season either. Ange is going to have to live or die by that decision. I'll bet he wasn't sold that level of future planning and is likely to have expected more jam today, but this is Spurs, mate. The jam is for tomorrow...or the day after. I hope he sorts things and gets to see the youngsters come to fruition in a team that he coaches, History suggests that he won't.
Leno Maitland niles David luiz Sokratis A young but unknown saka Torreira Xhaka Nelson An over the hill ozil A slowing down aubamayang Lacazette. Look at this debate. This Arsenal fan is trying to rewrite history, as many are on here, and is thankfully getting called out. Obviously we need better players and new players to come good. Ange needs to be backed. Just as Arteta did. The Arsenal guy is a weasel, just at Neville was when he wanted Kane/Poch at United. Bias is real. Also let's cut the crap with this, "Spurs played their best team." narrative. As if Bissouma doesn't get into our first eleven at the moment.
OK I will reply but if you can't see the difference there is a lot to go through. Mourinho, Conti, and Nuno were managers outside the tradition of how Spurs play. I believe Levy signed them in an attempt to beat the continuing narrative of Spurs not winning anything. It didn't work, probably because we didn't have the level of players that both Mourinho and Conte have come to expect. Conte was also suffering huge personal tragedies by losing 3 people close to him. He more or less sacked himself. The core is that most Spurs fans just do not want to see the kind of negative football that these three managers produce. Am I really having to justify sacking managers to a Chelsea fan, really! Ange on the other hand fully buys into the Spurs ethos and Spurs fans want him to succeed.
That video you shared is super long but i am going to agree as arsenal fans are generally unreasonable . Those players though, i think are on par with what spurs have if not worse though. I'm not saying that a good manager wouldnt have them having a go at top 4, i am just totally against the idea they were a "ready made cup team" as if we expect that side to have a better than the spurs team that ange has at winning a cup. Leno = vicario Holding, luiz, bellerin, niles are no where near the class of romero, van de ven, udogie and porro. Ceballos, xhaka, torreira shouldnt be able to lay a glove on bentancur, maddison and whoever you want to insert as the third midfielder. Auba, lacazette, pepe are probably on par with whoever your front 3 are (son is still a superstar). No idea how though you have about 200m on wingers and strikers. Has Levy secretly hired the ex chelsea scouts?
Sounds like Romero took a dig at the club yesterday by retweeting a post from a South American journo. It was quickly deleted but basically it said that some Spurs players will have been more tired than other club’s players as the club didn’t arrange for travel for certain players to arrive back from international duty. In other news, Johnson deactivated his Insta account after the game.
Haha you dont need to justify to me. I actually agree with those being incorrect hires and they needed to be removed from the club. Clearly king feels the same about ange. In each instance, not giving each the those defensive managers more time was the "right decision" even if it meant not giving them time like fergie to make their mark for better or more likely worse. You have thrown the club needs some stability stance to why king and not chucking managers on the scrapheap as an argument which i dont believe you have used for the those precious three purely because you like what you have seen in his style and his jib to the media. King isn't convinced just as you were not with nuno, jose or Conte. I'm not arguing for who is better for spurs just that you have been quite critical of his negativity because he seems to really dislike ange lol
Are you King's dad? You have described it well. I am arguing with King that he is being negative to the kind of manager that we have been looking for since? Redknapp. I am saying, don't make life difficult for Ange because he wants to go where we want to go in a way we want to do it. What's the alternative?
He’s definitely got similar charisma to Redknapp and it’s why he’s someone I/ we really want to succeed but ‘Arry’s football was far more enjoyable. What we’ve seen since about December is tedious nonsense to be honest. As Spurly also highlighted, we’ve lost 7 out of the last 11 in the league and the only teams we’ve taken points against in that period are Burnley, Sheffield, Leicester and Everton. Two teams that got relegated and two teams that will likely get relegated. It’s pretty damning. Add in the dreadful record in big games under Ange and all we seem capable of doing is beating the really **** teams at the moment. Again though, I blame the club more than I blame Ange. We thought we could go into this season without improving and we’re getting exactly what we deserve.
I think you should give ange the rest of this season but i think if the results dont improve levy is going to be stuck in a rock and a hard place. He clearly likes ange but if you guys move towards a relegation struggle then i see Levy pulling the trigger early. This is supposed to be when ange thrives, full pre season, a year in to perfect his philosophy, players as fit as they can be (they were knackered second half of last season). I'm watching with much interest One thing ange needs to do is be brave. He keeps pottering with the same team as last year.
