I just think you have to look at how we are set up to play rather than how perhaps you want them to play.
I don’t think you’ll be that poor in the second half and that’s why I’m even more frustrated that we’ve gone into the break level.
We’re misplacing tons of passes, I don’t think that’s part of anyone’s game plan. Nor is Emerson being a ghost as a right sided outlet, though somehow continues to be picked. He’s been skinned once or twice defensively too and when it gets to that stage, just what is he on the pitch for?
Because our game calls for this to be right and yes it could be better but as soon as we get it right we will score. You have to take into account that Arsenal are trying to stop us doing it and they are doing that well too but no way would I describe our first half as poor No way!
I don't think that it's a coincidence that our passing from midfield into the final third has been noticeably worse ever since Conte insisted on Kane staying up top instead of dropping back When Kane was dropping back he was feeding Son and Deki (albeit defenders seem to be working out the Kane-to-Son combination this season), but playing him up top puts additional pressure on Bentancur and Hojbjerg to make those same passes - and also explains why Hojbjerg has been more of a box-to-box midfielder this season In other words, we need to shake things up a little and have Richarlison play up top and allow Kane to drop deep - although that effectively surrenders the right flank
Agree on Kane, I think Conte’s got it wrong making him stay too far forward. The right flank’s been surrendered for most of the season though if we’re being honest. I want it to work for Emerson but he’s abysmal with the ball, not sure what this £1m he’s spent has actually done for him, unless that was a brown envelope to Conte to keep picking him. He’s not even been good defensively today either so it’s a double whammy.
The Sporting CP result + the Citeh game being postponed have IMHO been blessings in disguise as far as team morale goes. But I am already sick and tired of the repeated sitting deep in defence + in numbers. You cannot keep tempting fate when it comes to being under continual pressure.
