We played the same way in the last NLD and got a win because Arsenal were crap. The only difference today was Arsenal were more organised and saw the bus park coming.
The game was lost when Son went off as him and Lucas are the only players capable of stretching their defence and causing problems.
Cheers. It's the first of a few operations but it can't be put off any longer...I can't lift my left arm up past waist height without crying out in pain. The surgeon asked me if I spent a lot of time on my elbows? I'm lost to think of what that would be apart from crawling about the place.
The thing is that the last one we didn't park the bus, we got at them in midfield so that the only way they could get the balls out to the FBs was out of defence Today we sat back far too much, basically as we kept doing in December-January, so they were able to get the ball out to their FBs whenever and wherever they wanted to
The fact a likely teenager with a Sonny tribute account can see what we all see yet the manager can’t is actually frightening... Said it time and time against, his squad management is so much worse than Poch’s and Poch had a real problem with overplaying and poorly managing his squad too, it’s probably the worst I’ve seen from a Spurs manager that I can remember. Son’s injury is a result of being overplayed and if we’re not careful in coming games, Kane will quickly follow.
I think you're right. Poch had his core of around 17 players, which meant the bench usually had 2 pointless subs on it and with a few injuries started to look threadbare. But there was still the starting XI plus Trippier, Davies, Winks, Lamela, Dier and Llorente. All were trusted and all put in dozens of appearances when needed. Fast forward to the current season. That list is now basically Doherty (feck knows why), Davies and Lamela. The likes of Winks, Sissoko, Bergwijn, Dele, Tanganga and even Dier have almost totally vanished from starting line ups. I get that most if not all of those players have major limitations. But that is the whole point of squad rotation. Instead of going all-out to thrash the likes of Palace and Burnley, you make a couple of changes, win 2-1 instead of 4-0, and improve your squad's season shelf life. Add to that the fact that Rodon and Vinicius were ostensibly brought in to provide cover. The former is as good as on loan at another club and the latter is given no more than 10 minute cameos here and there. When (if) Lo Celso returns, that will make 15 players the manager actually trusts but given the size squad we have and the fact that many of the players I've mentioned above have actually played dozens if not hundreds of senior games, the situation is beyond a joke.
What a shame we don't have anyone who can fill in for him ...oh wait, yes we do, but we effectively threw him to the wolves after the Saltypool match
Don't agree. We were better organised that time and at least most looked up for a scrap. Today there was almost total indifference. I would certainly agree that Arsenal were certainly improved which just compounded things.
Should have gone for them...we’ve shown how devastating it has been recently and we have shown how we can’t defend. Jose got the dynamics wrong today
Yep. Just as he did at Utd, he gets a few good results and the team looks good. Then when it matters he has the team playing in a way that ignores its strengths and exposes its weaknesses. You looked threatening when you had to chase the game - and with 10 men! Why wait so long? And that was s nailed on pen btw. High foot whilst looking away from the attacker making contact with him and nowhere near the ball. Why wouldn’t it be a pen?
I've heard it said that 'its crucial that Chelsea get into Champions League for next season. Have they called on their agents for help'. The kind of football we're witnessing leaves you wondering if there's anything truthful to these rumours.
Lol. Never a penalty. Look at the freeze-frame below. I paused it after the ball has left Lacazette's boot and is already a yard away from him before Sanchez has made any contact. Yes it was a reckless challenge, but it didn't impede the attacker from attempting a shot - which he happened to screw up. Wasn't Sanchez' fault Lacazette miscued. He was 'nowhere near the ball' because the striker had already kicked it
The problem with that is that it might be a foul even if the contact happens after the shot. I say might because I have no idea on how referees are told to interpret the Laws. Personally I think that Lacazette made a genuine attempt to take a shot and Sanchez made a genuine attempt to block it. Neither succeeded and it doesn't seem right that the outcome is effectively a goal to Arsenal. If Lacazette had connected properly the ball would have been off the pitch before Sanchez touched him. Against that you can argue that the attempt to block was reckless and fear of injury could have contributed to Lacazette not getting a good shot away. As usual the Laws are no help.
