Yes, a subtle wum, but the Chelsea lads took it all in good humour.

Rarely have I been happier to be completely off in my prediction for this week (1-3)

I am very surprised you did not stand on your respected "No WUMming please" policy platform.

Was their goal onside anyone ? From where I was sat, it looked definitely offside.

He was very narrowly offside, but it would've been a very good call, due to the position of the players.
The assist was a completely mishit shot, too.

Seems to be some chatter that it was offside.

I did not see the game but looked at the BBC stats and there were reams of yellows.
The NLD is not usually a bad-tempered niggly affair, so was the ref doing a "me boss,
    you not" all game ??

Disagree I think all the team INCLUDING Lamela worked their socks off. He was very close to providing great through balls on a number of occasions. I think it wont be long before we see a match winning performance from this young man.

I thought that Lamela showed today why he's getting selected ahead of Townsend.
He wasn't quite getting everything right, but he won the ball high up the pitch a lot and worked really hard all game.
Arsenal simply couldn't get settled on the ball at any point and that was largely down to the work rate of our players.

The Pochettino fitness / work rate ethos does seem to be working.
My problem is whether this makes his football by default a "young mans' game" .
You couldn't imagine the likes of Berbatoss and VDV enduring it.

I'd be more worried if we were playing (with respect) the likes of Hull or Stoke. No one will be in any doubt of the intensity required to beat the Scousers, and there should be no taking our foot off the gas.

I agree, as with most of his games for us things just didn't seem to quite go right for him but I think he was as crucial as Mason in terms of setting the pace for us.

Speaking of Mason, I've had my doubts about him, I thought he'd put a lot of average/poor performances in with his main feature being that he simply fits into Pochettino's system better than most of our other midfielders. I'm not sure whether he's actually improved significantly or I'm just appreciating what he does more but these days I'm finding myself agreeing with the faith others have in him more and more. Great game from him today.

Poch said after Chelsea that we can beat any top team in the PL and now I'm beginning to agree with him. I was a tad miffed after the Palace match but now i'm not at all worried about Liverpool.

True. I'm sure Levy loves the idea of being decent young players with good engines, playing them in a role that suits their strengths then selling them on for big bucks when they approach 30. Rinse and repeat until we've paid for the stadium :D

I've has similar doubts about Mason since he broke into the side YV but he proved today that was well as having iron lungs and a terrific work rate, he made good passes off both feet, tackled and broke up play well, fought for every inch in each 50/50 and had a few good shots off both feet too. In terms of ability we could probably look for a better player but for what he brings to the team from his attitude you couldn't have asked for more today. He was everywhere.

That is happening often enough, but we need to be getting the Carrolls and Pritchards
coming thru the pipeline as seniors frequently too.
