The equitable solution is of course to have an "injury replacement".
In this case somebody with an evidently bad injury is replaced by
someone from the bench, and is not counted as a substitute.

And to cover attempted cheating, the player in question must undergo
independent medical scans, on the day, to confirm the claimed injury.
If the player has acted deceitfully then the player gets a N match week
(not games) ban, and the club is fined N x the player weekly wage.

    Start with N = 5.

Can we have a second goalkeeper as our injury substitute?

Try scoring past us with two goalkeepers on the pitch!

I dont want us to think we need to score 2...i want us to think we need to score 4.

I want us to go at them like City went for us...early goal and its all level.

This really is down to our mentality

I've said several times in the past that Sissoko was utter crap and reminded me of David Jenkins (a total washout!) Glad to see he unscrewed himself...and me too!

Do we hold the 0-1 no score home record since Spurs joined the league.Seems to have been a lot of them over the years?

I used to lose my sight after a game when I got home.I never did discover whether it was from heading the ball or the bright sunlight.I had to lay on the bed in the dark for a couple of hours until my sight returned. I can't be out in the sun without sunglasses.

As Barca showed tonight...the main thing is to take your chances.

We are notorious for missing a high percentage of ours. The strikers need to ne switched on in the Away leg!

I think every goal is checked.
More the question which I haven't seen anywhere is why was the second Ajax player not called offside. He was clearly interfering with play as Lloris had to think about closing off the angle of the pass to him and couldn't just block the onside player.
If this has been discussed sorry. I haven't really been in the the mood to trawl through the whole thread.

He certainly did. A lot of it boiled down to our lack of energy and desire for the first 40 minutes, as well as our FBs' general inability to affect a game (although to his credit Rose tried bloody hard, the final ball is just so rarely good enough). As soon as I saw Sissoko wasn't in the line up and (3 minutes in) that Alli was going to have one of his 'garden stroll' days, I was nervous. Ajax targeted our center relentlessly, running rings around Wanyama who truth be told was a passenger all game. A handful of full games in almost 2 entire seasons is never going to be enough prep for a CL semi final, but as Poch said we did have very limited options. Jan going off was awful to watch but was a blessing in disguise as Poch had just attempted to fix things by switching to a back 4 with Jan at LB and Rose in CM and if anything it made things even worse as Rose isn't a midfielder, simple as. As soon as Sissoko came on we had a proper presence in the middle and suddenly De Jong and Ziyech were finding it much harder to thread it through to Neres and Tadic.

Interestingly, De Ligt commented after the game that Ajax didn't like our more physical, combative approach in the second half as they are not used to it. Pretty naive to admit something like that publicly but it is obvious to all watching that when we stopped pissing about trying to out-pass them and started treating it like a really tough midweek PL clash, things took a turn for the better.

I'm in two minds about the away leg. Llorente caused them all sorts of problems but he's only useful if our deliveries are on point, which they so rarely are. I guess his other use is drawing defenders to him as they're nervous about his ability in the air, hence Lucas picking up loads of knock-downs in the pockets of space vacated by those defenders. If only Eriksen and Alli decided to turn up, we would have had more players exploiting those gaps. However, both apparently had the evening off and I would actually drop the latter for the 2nd leg as he hasn't really done anything this season to warrant being picked.

So second leg I'd stick with Llorente, I'd love to see Foyth but he'll play against B'mouth and my favourite RB will return to the team. I'm prepared/hoping to see:

    Hugo
    Him Toby Jan Rose
    Sissoko Dier
    Lucas Eriksen Son
    Llorente

Was saying it before Tuesday....play them at PL pace.

They might be young etc but youth alone wont get you through against the frantic pace of the PL. Thats why i fully believe that we must go at them like City went at us.

They wont know what hit 'em...lets hope Poch learns. He seems to need a crash course at these important times aswell it seems.

He doesn't need a crash course at all. Perhaps you have to appreciate that he is not in the position of a fan who make most of their judgements with the benefit of hindsight. I doubt any of us would have chosen to drop Vertonghen our best defender. Plus the double standard of criticising Spurs for not looking after Vertonghen properly and then criticising the manager for not bringing on Sissoki from the start is transparently fickle. From bringing back Kane too soon to playing the wrong formation the critics that are so easy to make in hindsight. It's what fans do I suppose, they are all experts after the fact.

One or two flicks from Dele can and has changed games for us. I remember Sherringham getting the same kind of criticism.
You don't have to run around like a headless chicken or even like Lucas to make a difference. Dele's value to us is the unexpected and the switch of direction, if we ditch that we lose a large part of our effectiveness reducing chances for our strikers as well. Greaves was also accused of doing nothing but scoring goals............. AND?

I havent criticised Poch...ive just made comments on what i believe to be the way forward and Poch has admitted so himself. It is a crash course because i expect it to be different tactically next week due to the lessons we learned on Tuesday.

Its the nature of the beast from us fans to pundits who get paid millions.

Did you criticise Juande Ramos after he got us 2 points from 8 games?

Or were you just nodding your head at everything?

I know what i was thinking.
