Win saturday : PL top 4 secured. The final game is then about banter fodder (finishing above the Goons and Chelsky) . We need a performance against Bournemouth solely to continue the ramp up in play that occurred in the 2nd half yesterday.
I will bite. The only player we might have signed who would have helped last night is Grealish who being home grown would have been an addition to the squad. He would have been an extra option from the bench. Who else would have helped that we could have signed? Unless they are home grown you have to leave out another player so how does that help?
There are only two possibilities. The medical team did everything right but came to the wrong conclusion or they messed up badly. I trust the Club to know which.
There were quite a few Ajax fans in East lower too but I thought that was allowed in the premium area. Had a pleasant conversation with one of them at half time. Three got asked to leave but i don't know why. The middle of East upper is also Premium isn't it?
Reckon that would be enough to influence the 1 goal defeats we have had without landing a punch. I’ve got no guarantees but I know another attacking option would have been very useful at this stage of the season. You seem to want guarantees...i can’t give them..all I know is from my time watching football I have noticed that improving a squad usually means improving a team which usually means improving some scores in games which were crying out for attacking options off the bench...that’s all I’m saying.
I agree but having 'another' option means a home grown player. Anything else is just a 'different' option. In an alternative universe we could have sold Sissoko and Winks and signed Ndombele and Grealish, and everyone would have been happy that we had strengthened. Most likely we would have done worse.
It’s about increasing the depth and strength of the squad, imo. The squad we currently have has talent, but is woefully thin. Once you scrape the surface, what s underneath is decidedly average. What we’ve seen in our last two games is a paper thin squad currently running on fumes.
In another alternative universe we kept Sissoko and Winks...it’s fun in my universe...we offered the extra couple of mill and got us Grealish too hence deepening the quality of the squad.
We've got enough points to be in the top 4 in almost every PL season. It's because we've won more matches than we usually do. We have had a lot of narrow losses.
If only the club listened to DH, we could’ve been lining up last night with Frenkie in our team alongside Sissoko with Grealish playing over Alli who by all accounts has had a poor season by his usual standards. 4-0 win for Spurs if we had that.
If we didn't sign Grealish for the want of a couple of million then that was a mistake. But Villa were subject to a takeover bid. That almost always comes with a freeze on asset sales.
As I said to Chief on the PL board, 3rd to 6th have effectively been performing at the same level for at least the last 3 seasons. Whatever injury plagues have beset Spurs this season, the squad + their use by the manager is by definition superior to those who finish(ed) 4th - 6th in those seasons.
Steve Bruce said himself he expected Grealish to go because Villa were desperate. We just pissed about for too long trying to penny pinch to the point where the new owners came in and stuck up the middle finger to us by the time we actually offered what his initial valuation was. Fun times.
Steve Bruce is hardly an expert in company law. If there was a takeover bid no offer of any sort could be accepted without the permission of the bidders.
