Lovely first time ball from the position he was in. Very composed from Scarlett too, right into the corner.
1-0 HT. Largely uneventful half, though Vigouroux made a couple of decent saves and swept up well. It was a 4-3-3 formation with Alli on the left, Winks deepest in the middle and John on the right. Didn't create much. Scarlett looked bright and made some good runs in behind.
Hard to make too much comment on a first preseason game with this lineup. Particularly for the senior players. For the youngsters, Scarlett took his goal very well, John has looked very busy with one or two flashes of quality. Of the two young FBs, Paskotsi looks more game going up and down the touchline, Cesay looks a bit more uncertain out there. Both clearly CBs out of position though. Be good to see a bit of Alfie Devine in the second half.
Whiteman on the for second half in goal. With that haircut, he looks like he’s going for a Gazzaniga. To be fair he’ll have a decent career if he’s anywhere near as good.
Orient having a few good minutes, as our players go to sleep anticipating them all being subbed. Everyone removed with 63 on the clock. White, Parrott, Clarke, Eyoma, ***an-Walcott, Omele, Bowden, Lyons-Foster, Mundle and Devine on.
1-1. Sotiriou. Ball given away high up the pitch and the defence just backed off. Well taken, though.
1-1 FT. A fairly useful first hour, then a pretty pointless half-hour with the kids, for me. Didn't create anything and looked rather vulnerable to breaks at the back. Not sure I learned a thing from that, so I hope NES got more from it than I did.
I managed to sit through the 90 minutes without falling asleep, but only just. First match just about fitness and of course its the hottest day of the year, Lucas ball and Scarletts finish were the highlight, and the kids kept the ball quite well, but we always looked vulnerable on the break.
Dele and Bergwijn had a good chance to prove where they fit in Famicon's system this afternoon They also have a good chance against Colchester on Wednesday...
Based on today (and there's a sentence doing a lot of legwork...) the following youth/fringe players have boosted their chances of featuring in the Europa Conference League Nile John Dane Scarlett Jack Clarke Maksim Paskotsi
Also, **** the dickhead who spat in Harry Winks when he was making his way into the stadium The **** is wrong with people?
