Sess looks like he’s got that yard of pace back that just seemed to disappear last season. He’s not rapid over the first few yards but after that he looks quick again. Lovely smooth running style.

A couple of other things so far: Gedson at RB might not be the most shocking idea. Looks like he’s got the engine to get up and down and he’s technically good as well. Maybe Jose has been working on him for that position and that’s why we haven’t seen him. Højbjerg is showing glimpses. You can see that he likes to lead a press, most obviously for the second goal. He’s also shown some nice touches and passes in traffic that I don’t think Winks would have made. He’s also asking for the ball (if not always getting it yet) in situations where Winks wouldn’t be comfortable doing that. I still don’t know where Foyth should be playing. CB makes me nervous though he’s good in the ball - he was an attacking midfielder in youth teams and it shows. Still looks more like a RB to me. Looking forward to seeing some of the youngsters in the second half.
3-0 HT. Ipswich weren't that bad, but they struggled badly whenever we presses high up the pitch. A few defensive disasters hurt their confidence early on, so it's hard to judge either side from that. Unusual setup from us and it's clear that we're missing a focal point up top, in my opinion. I shouldn't curse myself by adding this, but the stream quality has been remarkably decent, so far. Surprised that we picked one of the usual commentators, too.
Solid first half from us but the opposition is nowhere near our level. Gedson showing signs of a potentially decent RB. Made some brilliant runs but his final decision making had been poor right up until 41 mins where he finally knocked a cross in which Son should’ve buried. With Aurier on his way and a new RB surely coming in, he may be able to provide cover and competition for the role so long as he/ Jose works on his decision making. Hard to see a route in at CM for him right now so this could be a good chance. Hojbjerg looked decent breaking up a couple bits of play. Great pass by Foyth for Son’s second. Sess and Alli moving nicely. Defence untroubled.
