That's why they want to stay in the national leagues.

I suppose the English Football League lacked the power. This move is against UEFA, a very different proposition.

Very true in Africa where most have a number one club, Barca or Real, and a number 2 club, an English one, generally Utd, Citeh or l'Arse.

I don't think there is anything in UEFA's statutes that allows them to take action. The FA Handbook requires that clubs don't play in unsanctioned competitions. The FA caved last time and UEFA will this time.

The FA caved? If you are talking about the PL, they instigated it. The Football League didn't cave they were just outgunned.

I don't think the FA would have done it without the threat from the 'big five' though.

PS The FA wanted the PL to rest control from the Football League who they had been at war with since the instigation of the League Cup to try and compete with the FA's then flagship the FA Cup. There was no identified big 5 or 6 then they just had to get a majority of the 1st Division behind it which they did by outlining the financial prospects for them. They had a fairer distribution of the money in mind but the 'big clubs got them to pull back on that so that more went into the PL coffers.

I'm enjoying the threat to ban players for this unprecedented act of greed.
They won't be able to play in the World Cup... in Qatar! <laugh>
Yep. Can't see any irony in that one, whatsoever.

As things stand right now, though, UEFA are the ones making the mistakes, not least because the way they're thundering about players from the clubs being banned from both the World Cup or Euros is guaranteed to fail, for the following scenarios
a.) If they try and ban Toni Kroos or Rafael Varane from playing in the Euros, the DFB or FFF will quite rightly ask why they're being punished given none of the teams on their watch joined the ESL
b.) The World Cup is FIFA's turf, so UEFA simply do not have the authority to say players will be banned from it
c.) CONMEBOL, CONCACAF, AFC and CAF will all have something to say about how they're supposed to ban Lionel Messi, Christian Pulisic, Son Heung-min or Mohammed Salah (among dozens of players) from their teams because of a spat between UEFA and the ESL

One thing that does need to be looked at is the overlap between the G14 and the ESL founders, because looking at the list there's a point you have to wonder if it's not a coincidence to several names on both

    G14
    Ajax
    Arsenal
    Barcelona
    Bayer Leverkusen
    Bayern Munich
    Borussia Dortmund
    Inter
    Juventus
    Liverpool
    Los Ladrones do Madrid
    Lyon
    Man Utd
    Marseille
    Milan
    Porto
    PSG
    PSV
    Valencia

    ESL
    Arsenal
    Atletico Madrid
    Barcelona
    Chelsea
    Inter
    Juventus
    Liverpool
    Los Ladrones do Madrid
    Man Utd
    Milan
    The Sheikh Mansour Team

I hear they've got a decent bar there, too. Nice changing range of ales, apparently.
I was planning on checking it out next season, anyway.

MicahRichards says he is disgusted as City got up from the old Div 2 (now League 1) the right way with hard work, great support and determination. Nothing to do do with spending £1billion they didn’t earn on transfers.

The richest biggest clubs in Europe invited and we are one of them...I thought we were skint?

I thought poor Levy who’s done wonders got no money for players yet the money men recognise that we are loaded.

even if it all falls through...Levy lovers... don’t ever forget this because this is what ENIC are here for...to follow the £££££ not glory...always knew that about the shaisty kaaant

    I love being a spur.
As a kid I watched us get relegated.
I watched us lose 5 nil at home to Arsenal.
And watched us lose 7 nil at Liverpool
Saw us take 3 games to beat non league Altringham.
Seen us lose in the Fa A Cup to Port Vale and get humiliated 6-1 at home to Chelsea and Sheffied United and 7-1 at Newcastle.
Watched us be dross throughout 1992-2004 (with the exception of the 1994/5 season).
Seen us win trophies and play glorious football.
Saw Ginola, Hoddle, Ossie, Galvin Ricky, Clemence, Roberts, Mabbutt, Perryman, Waddle, Lineker, Gazza, Stewart, Teddy, Klinsmann, Modric, Bale, Defoe, Lennon, VDV, Dembele, Berbatov, Keane, Carrick, Edgar Davids, plus those of the past 5 years grace the shirt.

I have seen great comebacks like the 125 game, the CL semi final in Ajax, Arsenal 2 spurs 3 and Arsensl 4 spurs 4.

They have excited me and bored me.

They were where I took my girls to fall in love with football.

The first question Mrs RCL asked me when we met was "you ain't a gooner are you?"

Spurs help me escape unhappy times, sad times and boring times and they made good times better.

And this is what Levy and ENIC will be taking from me with this plan...so **** off Levy and **** off ENIC.

If this goes through I will view spurs like AFC Wimbledon fans view MK Dons.

    Scummy plan from greedy bastards.

As for UEFA...**** off...their greed in the CL (killing off great European club trophies like the Cup Winners Cup and the UEFA cup) helped lay the groundwork for this.
And while we're at it FIFA can **** right off...without their history of corruption this situation would not arise.

Oh and the government can **** right off ... how the **** can they have the nerve to call the plan greedy... DAVE ****ING CAMERON MOTHERFUCKERS

    **** everyone involved in this.

Oh well said that man, Spurs are in my blood and at this point in time it is watered down
If anybody asks me I am Spurs fan am now and always will be and a very distant 2nd a football fan
If we do become a franchise along with what is becoming a toxic coverage of the game by Sky and BT plus what Var is doing to the game I fear that I will stop my love of the Spurs
