    "Calm down dear"

Pardon me for getting excited by a manager who got us 4th, 5th and then 4th again along with a cup final plus the unbelievable experiences we enjoyed ( well I certainly did) in the CL, even progressing as far as the quarter final stage.

I thought you were getting excited by your red rag rage rather'n Redknapp's run

If this is just going to turn into tit for tat taunts I'll close the thread. Lets get back to the topic or let the thread go quiet.

Funny thing with people's memories of Redknapp is summed up by a comment above where someone says "One of our best managers ever" then follow it with a big "but...".

Not that far from what most people think it just seem like for people down my end of the spectrum the "but..." Is more of an asterisk (especially if you're calling him one of our best managers ever!). For others it just seems like the "but..." existing at all has a real influence on how his achievements are perceived.

What I mean by that last post is not that most people will agree that he was one of our best mangers ever - just that even when someone does rate his as one of the best ever there's still a "but...".

I think when people look back in ten years Redknapp will be seen as a good not great Spurs manager. He did not win anything but we played good football and had good finishes in the league. Many others surpass him in win statistics but that never tells the whole story. Since Billy Nicholson it is not difficult to argue we have not had a "great" manager. How much better though perhaps we could and should have done with the players we had? The Spurs board cannot be ignored though in apportioning either praise or blame.

In totally unrelated news, Kevin Bond is leaving QPR when his contract expires at the end of the month.

Bond and Redknapp have had a bit of a bust up. I am not saying they won't work together again, but I think it more likely Harry would team up with Jordan again rather than Bond.

Harry seemed to lose his way a bit at QPR and forget what his strengths were; forging teams and getting somewhat 'lesser' players to perform better than they should. Will be interesting to see who decides to give him a go and how he does. Might be looking for one last hurrah at this stage of his career.
