Anelka is apparently bang up for coming back here. There were murmurings today they'd offered us Sturridge, but I can't see us going for that as he's not that good and I think he's on crazy money too. Anelka would make more sense, but mightn't appeal to FSG because of his age.
Anelka, Sturridge and 40m? I'd take that. 4-4-3 with Anelka, Suarez and a young forward up front. Who knows? could happen...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/9380389.stm It is actualy happening.I cannot believe it. Bastard.
http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/lfc-reject-torres-transfer-request It's official mate. He wants out.
Hes havin a laugh and so are Chelsea,They leave us 4 days of the transfer window to negotiate a price for him and then find a replacement. Sorry Nando your with us till the end of the season at least,If you've got any probs over it give Roman a ring.
I'm worried on this Torres wanting out not for Torres, as many have said, players come and go, everyone is replaceable..... but Suarez deal might be in this balance as well. If the money plus Anelka gets us going and allows us to buy the Marins, Turans, hazards and really rebuild this could be a blessing in disguise but right now......feels a like a kick to the marbles.
As many people have asked, why didn't he leave in the summer, or even put in this request at the beginning of this window? I hope it's because he was waiting for us to bring good players in this month and, seeing that there were only 3/4 days left to do it, decided that it wasn't going to happen and so asked to leave. If that's the case, maybe the Suarez deal and one or two others coming in will change his mind... The upshot of it is, however, the board don't have to sell him. He's got a couple of years on his contract, and with there only being a couple of days of the window left it'll be easy to resist bids. If the 50m buy-out clause is true, why offer 35-40m and a player in exchange if they could just stick another 10m on and not have to bother with agreeing terms with the liverpool board?
You know what I've been thinking today? *That his turnaround in form isn't down to Kenny. *He was trying to prove to Chelsea that he's still got it. *For most of the season he was ****e, until Chesea rolled into town and suddenly he turns it on. *That game was like a ****ing job interview for him. It's only a theory, but let's say his agent is speaking to Chelsea before the window, and Chelsea aren't keen because his form has been mostly gash for ages. *That's why there's no bid at the start of Jan, which would have made more sense. So Torres pulls his finger out and proves to Chelsea he hasn't lost it, and with them now being happy with what they've seen they press ahead with trying to sign him. Purely speculative, but my opinion of him is so low and has been for some time, that this seems more likely to me than this just coming out of nowhere.
And another thing. *It's not a co-incidence that Chelsea put this bid in when our players have two days off and Torres is apparently out of the country. *Timed perfectly so he didn't have to deal with the fall out of it all. He probably thought when he came back he'd be going startight to London and wouldn't even have to come back here.
We'll get a whole load of garbage from him now about broken promises as he tries to justify what he's done. I was told a couple weeks ago by someone that this is what he'd do when he left (he was assumed it would be in the summer though, not now). *He said the only promise Purslow made Torres in the summer was that the club would be sold by the refinancing deadline in October, which it was. However, he was promised all kinds of other **** by representatives of Kenny Huang, who flew out to Spain to sweet talk him. *He can't blame the club though if he was taken in by that ****ing fraud and his proclamations about signing Drogba and Iniesta.
James I think you'v hit the nail on the head on all three posts mate. I remember a few people saying after the Chelsea game that that was a job interview. I told them to do one, but it appears they were right. I reckon the only loyal players in our squd are Carragher, Pepe and Kelly. You could perhaps add a few of the younsters to that list, but this is the price of buying foreign players- they're not from the UK, then generaly just see it as a temp job, with exceptions obviously. Then of course you get a lot of greedy British/English players. I mean the likes of Owen, Rooney, Millner, Barry, and Gerrard- who I havent fully forgiven from pretty much leaving a few years back. How many loyal English players are there? Carragher Terry Lampard Scholes Giggs (Welsh) I struggle after that. Football is dieing a death until we get it UK based again. This is all Sky's fault.
Carragher Terry Lampard Scholes Giggs (Welsh) i think there`s a chap called Gerrard but he`s never done much to make you remember his name
leafy - you need to read all of the post above before replying to it. "and Gerrard- who I havent fully forgiven from pretty much leaving a few years back."
I'm sure you could (begrudgingly) include a certain Gary Neville in there too. Although you might say he's only at Man U still because nobody else will have him! Not too sure about John Terry's loyalty though, given his private life and how much he earns. I reckon if City win the league and come in with an offer he'd go. How about Kuyt? He claims, and it was reported, that inter were in for him in the summer but he wanted to stay.
Someone told me a couple of weeks ago that the only promise Purslow made him was that the club would be sold by the October refinancing deadline. That was it, nothing else. Kenny Huang's people on the other hand, promised him the world (including Iniesta and Drogba). If he believed all that crap, it's on him, not the club. Of course, if Purslow promised him more than just the club being sold by October then I'm sure we'll hear about it.
Here's what I'd do. Make some enquiries and see if we can get anyone in. If we can, then I say to Chelsea cough up the asking price by 5pm today, or it's not happening. I'd say to Torres, tell Chelsea if they want you they need to pay up, coz if they don't then this is what happens. Suarez takes your place, and if he isn't available then Ngog plays. You will be on the bench every game, but you won't get on the field. You will however, have to warm up in front of the fans. If they don't come up with the dosh, we tell Torres and Chelsea to **** themselves and we'll sell him in the summer when there'll be other clubs interested. We hold the cards here. If they come up with the dosh, we try and get people in but if we can't then we'll have to wait til the summer to get them. We're not going down, and we aren't gonna make top four, so it's not the end of the world if he goes. The big disappointment is the Europa League, as this hurts our chances of winning it.
