Torres has stats that flatter to deceive. He has played 60 odd games this year I believe. 13 of his goals have come in cups. His scoring rate is below most top European strikers, and far below RVP and Suarez.

If I recall correctly, he bagged a bunch against Nordskskelmjelkang. He hasn't scored in the league this calendar year i think. So seeing that we can't take who he did score against as an indication of his talent, its more important for Chelsea to look at who he DIDNT score against. That's 40 odd games.

Torres has appeared 81 times in the league for Chelsea since his transfer - 7873 minutes, and scored a grand total of 14 times!!!!
In case someone chimes in with 'He's playing better under Rafa...' this includes the huge haul of 3 (2 against Sunderland and 1 in that 8-0 drubbing of Villa)

Far be int from me to criticise that monumental figure, but based on the transfer fee (for league goals alone) this would be an amazing £3.5mil per goal.

Of course it is much fairer to include the big haul of goals in cup competition which has included goals against those powerhouses of Leeds (League) and Brentford (FA), 6 in Europa action - (Basel, Benfica, Rubin x 3 and Steaua) and 2 in CL action against FC Nordsjealland.

Caveat - he scored 4 in the league under DiMatteo and 1 against Shakhtar in CL.

Still, 20 in 62 matches (this season) is pretty poor for a player of £50mil standards.
