Maybe a really bad idea but i wonder whether it is worth playing Torres in one of the wide positions in a 4-3-3.

Reasons being: -

- He clearly has the pace and technical ability to play that type of role, a bit like Villa for Spain.

- He will get more of the ball which may improve his confidence then the handful of touches he's getting at the moment.

- Allows Drogba to play as well and allows us to play our favoured formation. Drogba has been our best striker these last few games and should play but Torres sitting on the bench seems madness if we want him to be coming good.

- Not quite the same pressure to score playing wide as through the middle and maybe he might get a few chances drifting in when the marking wont be as focussed on him.

I know his best position is through the middle but maybe once he gets a bit of form, he can revert back or maybe from next season once he has a pre season under his belt.

Any thoughts?

not here to wum like the last time <ok> but honestly torres wont do well out wide. he needs to be central with licence to roam and he needs to be the loan striker. play 4-3-3 but fernie has to be spearhead of the front 3. just my take on it

You're probably right but rotating him and Drogba every game isn't helping either of them and they dont seem to work as a 2 together.

Just thought it might be a solution until the end of the season. Anelka, Rooney, Sturridge, Walcott, Kuyt are all examples of forwards who have adjusted to playing out wide when asked, maybe Torres could too.

<yikes>

Are you feeling ok<laugh>

Agreed<ok>

Torres out wide... haha

If he still had some pace then maybe.

He needs to be a lone striker up front.

ye have on yer hands a bigger sulker than anelka(who btw i hate houlier for leaving go) if hes not top dog or asked to go out wide he'll throw a strop. take it from fans whove seen his sulky side for the past 18 months

The only place for Torres is selling pies at half time. He is crap and you dimwits were well mugged by the mickeys.

You are welcome to come and talk about any issue regarding Chelsea providing you do so in an adult way and contribute. if you try to spoil any thread on this board I will remove you from it. <ok>

As I said your more than welcome but please play nicely ;)

No way, he would sulk to the end of time. He has to be the focal point, and that's where Chelsea's problems lie. They have Drogba for that. Something has to give.

We can't go accommodating him - he needs to get a damned grip & look sharp about it

A bit less playing with his girly hair band & a bit more getting on the end of things & we might be getting somewhere - carlo - get the scissors out
