    Henchoz was playing in a really defensive team though. Was never pretty to watch (the team, under Houllier), therefore I've gone for the Carra/Hyypia centre back partnership under Benitez that got us to Istanbul.

    I get what you're saying too - i'd much prefer him at CB.

    Depends if you're trying to pick a team of quality individuals that have played at some point with Gerrard, or an actual team as such.

    Yeah a class partnership <ok>

    Always key to a good team imo.

    We've had Hyypia/Henchoz, Hyypia/Carra and Agger/Carra.

    What we're missing currently and for the future.

    Not really, the OP said players whilst Gerrard has been captain, Henchoz left the summer Stevie became captain.

    Stevie became captain mid-season mate (2003). A move by Houllier to try and appease the restless supporters after a poor start to the league campaign in my opinion. Same as when Carra was used as a centre back for the last couple of games of the season, Houllier knew he was on the way out and was trying to do everything the fans had been calling for to keep him in a job.

    Thought that was down to Hyypia injuries?

    TBH, I really lost interest towards the end of that season. Houllier's style really bored the **** out of me anyway but at least we were doing well, but that season was just awful!

    Completely agree with this, thought about Hamann over masch but decided against. That midfield three were exceptional. I would to have it back.
