Can't think of a woman idol at all tbh. They are **** at football, cricket, golf, boxing, anything of note bar tennis really. As a kid, maybe Chris Evert? One I can think of more recently is Lindsey Vonn, she's an absolute ****ing nut case. Ridiculously fearless.

Strange, same era but I don't remember her. Although I was never into the Olympics that much, only sport I was very good at was long distance running. No fooker would trust me with a javelin. I suppose we should be giving Sharron Davies a mention.

The self discipline is something else. Spend your whole childhood preparing for perfection. I'd have taken one look at the aparatus and said fook off. Five a side, footie and long distance running was my limits, by mid twenties my knees were fooked and that was the end of that. I tried rugby, but got fed up with bouncing off my mate who was built like a brick shhitehouse, I was quick and he just stood there, but somehow he always seemed to be standing in the space I wanted to run
