Wow thats awesome that you think so highly of your average manager. I was referring to there record in the championship though. But what I do find amazing is if he is such a good manager, why has he been fired by so many different clubs? Birmingham aside, he really hasn't managed to stay in a job for very long at all
Well Bruce has a better record then him in the Championship too. He has been in the Championship for two seasons and on both occasions he had been promoted
Charlie, Here's some excerpts from Steve Bruce's wikipedia page, just for you: "...he had acquired a reputation as a manager who rarely held down a job for a significant length of time..." "Initial expectations were high for the 2004–05 season (for Birmingham under Bruce), but the club once again finished in a mid-table position, ending the season in 12th place." "The following season began well for Birmingham, who climbed as high as fourth in the table, but the team's fortunes declined and they could only finish in tenth place at the end of the season. Despite this disappointment, Bruce signed a new contract in June 2004." "...By this stage of the 2005–06 season, Birmingham were struggling in the league, and on 21 March 2006 were beaten 7–0 at home by Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals. Some supporters of the club began to call for his (Bruce's) resignation, but Bruce insisted that he would fight on as manager." "Although Bruce had the largest transfer budget in the division made available to him, Birmingham made a slow start to the 2006–07 season in the Football League Championship and, after a 1–0 defeat at home to Norwich City, the team's fifth consecutive match without a win, there were calls from fans and local journalists for the manager to be sacked. Bruce publicly accepted responsibility for the team's poor run..." "In October 2007, Bolton Wanderers were refused permission to speak to him about their managerial vacancy. Later that month, Bruce and Yeung held a meeting which reportedly had positive results. However, Bruce later claimed that Birmingham's then Managing Director Karren Brady had "shafted" him on a new contract with the club..." "Bruce was dismissed as (Sunderland) manager on 30 November 2011, with Sunderland in 16th position following a poor run of form culminating with a 2–1 home defeat to bottom club Wigan Athletic four days earlier. He later linked his dismissal from the managerial post with the fact that he is a fan of Newcastle United, Sunderland's bitter rivals(!)" Sounds like the guy has spent most of his managerial career apologising for failure or making lame excuses. But if you're happy with that, then good luck to you son...
Funny thing is for all the experience in the prem Bruce has no one wanted him. Liverpool and Tottenham both appointed a manager with 1 season's experience in the prem Why didn't they go for Bruce with his brilliant track record Charlie?
Lets see who is next to manage in the PL. Funny how none of your cronies are backing you up, Charles.
Or because this bickering has got beyond tedious, I just can't wait for the season to get started and some arguments with substance to get going.
A brief spell in charge of Carlisle aside (who, I might add, he led to league survival against the odds in 1999), Pearson didn't really start in management until 2008. Bruce has nearly ten years on him, so it's hardly surprising Bruce has had more experience. But Bruce has never really done anything with that experience. Pearson will have his chance - indeed, he has it this season. Bruce's best days are behind him and, as you'll see from my last post, they weren't exactly great days at that.
