Indeed. It's such a hard league to predict. I think if both clubs have a less turbulent season (i.e no change in manager) then we'll both improve on where we finished last year.
Alot of good teams in the league this season, far to many to even attempt a prediction, my personal feeling is that we will be mid table, i have low expectation levels this yr, but i just can't see us making the top 6, and def no chance of top 2, hope i'm wrong but i just can't see it.
It could be any 6 out of 15 this season - going to be very competitive. We've got as good a chance as anyone
Don't rule out Hull they had a great defence and Bruce has brought wisely. Not a chance you will see Leeds top 6 I hate to say it but official news today the takeover has collapsed. Rumour is Bates has had a change of heart about selling.
SuperTiger, whilst I do agree with your point about the fact that you have indeed strengthened up top, you don't as yet have much cover for injuries, certainly where Proschwitz is concerned (?) Where as, without wanting to sound off, I would like to think we have ample cover in that dept with Beckford, Nugent,Vardy,Waghorn & Schlupp + Gallagher at a push plus some good quality reserves as Josh LUFC might recall the final match, last season at E.R ? but you never know, thats the beauty of this league IMO !
I think we are two quality signings (centre back & holding midfielder) away from play offs to top two finish.
It was starting to look like things were going tits up with that takeover, it seems they have now. Still, at least the Pompey fans should be happy.
I think Hull will be alot better under Bruce then they was under Barmby. Even if Proschwitz and Aluko live up to their expectations along with Fryatt and Koren it isnt enough of a goal threat. We have 7 or 8 players capable of scoring goals The only concerns defensively I would have as a Hull fan is Jack Hobbs being out and Alex Bruce playing
Our centre back pairing will be Chester and Faye, Bruce is only there to keep the bench warm and because his old man wanted to sort him a wage.
Faye wasnt great at West Ham though was he. When Hobbs is fit neither Faye or Bruce will get a game at centre half
He played 29 league games last season, for a team that got promoted, I think he'll suffice. Though Chester and Hobbs will almost certainly be the first choice pairing, once available.
