My last 3 cars have all been Audi's, had an A3 1.9tdi which was great but i wasn't doing the milage to warrants a deisel so i put it in for a TT, great car and fun to drive but totally impractical as i have 2 kids so i put that in for an S3. Best car i've ever owned for sure. I had to take my S3 back into Audi for a factory recall, something to do with dodgy cable somwhere but while i was there they had the R8 out in the forecourt which was duley taken for a test drive. Only managed to take it from SOL to Washington and back so never got to drive it properly but what a car, i wish i was rich, please let me get those numbers up this week.
That'll be the power shift from the front to the rear then, can catch you out the first time when you are not expecting it but I agree with you Q's are awesome cars to drive... My favourite time is when it is snowing hard - all the rear wheel cars grind to a halt and you can drive past them all with not a care in the world - awesome grip
The last time we had tha bad snow I was due to fly to Gatwich to catch a connecting flight but they turned us back due to heavy snow on the runway so i though **** this, i'm not dipping out on a holiday cos of some crappy snow. I rang my son and told him to fire up the quattro (yes corny i know) I ended up driving down the A1 in the outside lane which was totally covered in heavy snow at breakneck speed overtaking all the lorries that were hogging the clean inside lane. I only lost it once but got lucky, ended up facing the wrong way but it was during the night, no coppers about to pull me. Credit to Audi, a great peice of kit. I'm on the lookout for an RS4 now, love em to bits.
Audi have also just released the RS3! http://www.audi.co.uk/new-cars/a3/rs3-sportback.html Staggering bit of kit - 0 - 60 = 4.5 seconds (iirc) For many though the RS4 was the first proper "drivers" car - it would always go in the direction pointed and the performance was incredible
Wearside Audi have one on order as a demonstrator but they won't be taking delivery till mid March but i've got the promise of a test drive so looking forward to that, bit steep at ã39,995 though and that's the basic model. Hence the reason i'm looking at RS4's, older car but still a great car even by modern days standards and phenomanaly quick for a 4 door saloon. My mate has the Rs4 Avante but he's had it remapped, takes the piss out of 911's.
My only experience with Audi's was the old 80 facelift when my old man bought one fresh off the boat mid 70s I think. If money was no object, I still think I would go for a high end Mercedes Estate for running around in, and the Aston for fun!
I put myself in debt to get the Volvo, never regretted it, but I don't think I will be purchasing a brand new car again. Unless the lottery comes up trumps.
Yeh, know what you mean mate, i've lost a fortune buying new cars but then again i'm a bit of a petrol head and unless you buy top end cars like Ferrari's Lambo's etc, you're always going to lose money. PS: you really should reconsider the Mods position MR, you are doing a sterling job and while i can appreciate it's a thankless task, don't let the minority get you down, the majority are right behind you.
I was spending time reading posts I had no interest in mate, it only takes one extreme post to really cause problems for a forum. Whilst I was a Mod I took it seriously, but I would much rather just be a poster.

You drive an ordinary car off the forecourt you have lost thousands instantly mate. You would still get near enough the original price for one of the super cars doesn't need to be special or limited.
Fully understood MR, look forward to reading your posts and if you get the chance or try out a test drive in the RS3 when it arrives in Wearside Audi, i'm sure you will climb out of the drivers seat with a big cheesey grin on your face. I do with my S3 so the RS will be even better.
All them ã100,000 Ferrari and Astons now selling for ã50,000 your not going to lose that kind of money on other cars
lots of great cars there, some of you must be doing ok for yourselves, but whilst i dont have that kind of luxury or power i do have something none of your cars can do (for legal reasons) i have a 3 litre toyota vigo hilux pickup and can do above 180kph, which doesn't sound much, but i can load about 10 locals into the back (perpectly legal here) and really put the s*#ts up them. haha payback time is grand. p.s i dont condone driving fast with 10 people in the back of a pickup, but you ever seen 7 people on a scooter, and still want to cut you up, mental is not the word
If I had my way, all these so-called super cars would be banned from the roads along with 4x4's and any other fuel guzzlers...It's about time that global markets got real to the fact that the world's in deep **** if we keep on the way we are going...
