I sick and tired of the NE fighting for the crumbs offered by the top flight. To have two such magnificantly supported clubs wallowing in 4th and 5th bottom is a disgrace of monumental proportions. We were both only 3 to 5 points (1 to 2 games) away from being relegated and yet bizarrely enough, also only 5 to 7 points from a top 10 finish and only 10 points from finishing 8th? WBA have 49 points and have been lauded as having a wonderful season. We are only 10 points behind them and have had a disasterous one. Fine lines to call both ways. Thats how close it was for a host of clubs and thats the postitive I'm clinging to. We only need to improve by a small percentage in points return imo (we lost leads in 8 or 9 games or so and conceded last min goals on probably 5 or 6 of them wich cost us at least 10 points) and although there is doom and gloom right now at both clubs, we are also both not millions of miles away from being able to turn it round either? For us, we have a new manager and some pretty radical language being used right now and a man with a plan and the desire and ambition to see it through. Whether this style will prevail over the course of a full season is open for debate (I have my doubts too) but I do think we can improve over this campaign and bring 4 or 5 quality signings to supplement an average squad. I would settle happily for top 10 and a decent couple of cup runs next term. I'd guess I would be joined by at least another 14 clubs fans though in that desire. It all starts again in 74 days or so time.
under a decent manager we might have gone further in the fa cup, all the team done against everton was roll over, i dont envisage that is going to happen with this man in charge
The puns on here tonight have been classy...just hope that both of our clubs show our true worth next season....our lassie expects an improvement!!
