Ronaldo plays as a wide forward and most of his goals come from cutting in off the left or running in behind the full back off the wing and scoring...

Messi plays as a false 9 and is not a striker.

The OP said top 6 forwards...surely that applies to anyone who can play as part of a front 3?

That's why I said my list was strikers only! It was bazray that took exception to the fact I don't class Messi and Ronaldo as strikers, even though they aren't in the strictest sense.

That means he's not a striker. Barca don't play with strikers, ask anyone who watches them. They have 3 forwards, no strikers.

How can you define a striker when we couldn't even define whether water is wet?

<laugh> Fair point, but I think the striker issue is a tad more clear cut ;)

Credit where due, he's had a very good season. I still hate the dwarf like, ginger, balding, little **** though. So don't worry I'm not on the turn. <cheers>

Rooney is the best striker in the PL. Only RVP can be compared top him. Its about more than just goals with Rooney. Hes gets plenty of them though, every season, without fail. Ever when hes having an awful year.

    Sign of absolute class.

Take off your ABU specs and see for yourselves, you would sell your dead grans cat for him in your team

Haha, the cat was added purely to cover my back, some people actually think everything written on here is fact and its certain that some posters, probably Arsenal or QPR fans would genuinely think I was telling you to sell your grans.

first time i've been on the pool board actually.
    top 6 this season:
    Messi
    Ronaldo
    van Persie
    Gomez
    Ibrahimovic
    Rooney

Thats this season only. Villa has been injured for most of it, so he's not on the list.

Internationally, Suarez is miles ahead of Rooney.
    Domestically, vice versa.

I think it's too hard to make a linear list, so I have proposed the following pyramid structure to illustrate context to the varying levels of 'class'.

    Gods:
    Messi, Ronaldo, Kevin Davies

    World Class Forwards:
Aguero, Tevez, Van Persie, Ibrahimovic, Eto'o, Neymar

    Top Class Forwards:
Rooney, Drogba, Gomez, Falcao, Cavani, Robben, Benzema, Higuain

    Champion's League Class Forwards:
Suarez, Balotelli, Adebayor, Muller, Sanchez, Lavezzi, Llorente, Di Natale, Hazard, Bale, Huntelaar, Soldado, Nani, Pato, Hulk, Yakubu

    Premier League Class Forwards:
Bent, Hernandez, Ba, Cisse, Holt etc.

    6 Divisions of Crap

    Torres

So it's clear that the top six at any one time are the holy trinity plus whichever three world class strikers happen to be on best form.
