So you're a good cup team then?? As I say to be considered a big club now you'd normally be expected to be winning league titles every now and then. You came close, once in the last 10. Essentially you're a modern day Blackburn, Preston, Wolves. Is it really 20 years? Brilliant.
No, to be a top, successful club you need to be winning titles. To be a big club, all you need is lots of fans. The clue's in the word 'big' - how can that denote anything other than size (and indeed how can size refer to anything other than fanbase?) Liverpool are a big club, Chelsea are a big club, Everton are a big club. Live with it.
No, the C.L is a great cup comp but a cup comp all the same. You won it on a penalty shoot out and finished 5th in your own league that year. Below Everton I believe who you are so quick to slag off. So 20 years and counting....
Err the clue is in the name of the competition L-E-A-G-U-E. And by the way Man Utd never entered the 98-99 CL as English Champions.
And you didn't even win that League!! You came 2nd to Monaco and only went through at all on Goal difference. It's called league but the real comp is the last 16 which is a knock out. Do you even follow football???
Yep. Proved you're not a real Liverpool fan. United and Everton would be in any real fans top 2. Come from Surrey by any chance?
Dross?,whys that, because it shows where Chelsea stand in the big picture. Your a small minded tosser with a big chip on your shoulder.
They haven't just done it before Chelsea though. They've done it for FAR longer. Many, many, many titles each, and a lot of glory in the Champions League. Building up a global fanbase can take decades, and they've both had success over enough decades to build up such a global size. Chelsea simply won't be able to do in 7/8 years what Liverpool and Man Utd have done over numerous decades. I agree. The foundations are there to do some really special things. We're on a fairly stable road at the moment though with some quality players, so let's see how it goes this season!
No. Chelsea have never been a small club. But before Roman took over we clearly weren't as big as we are today. However tides change and Liverpool aren't as big as they were. You simply can't go 20 years without winning the league, barely even competing during that time and expect to be talked about in the same breath as United et all as you once were. We wouldn't have been on your radar 25 years ago yet in Jan we bought your best player after he handed in a transfer request to join us. But I guess that is what really grates, us messing with the status quo.
Doesn't mean Chelsea are a 'small' club though does it??? which was the cruz of the whole argument. It surprises me that PMK calls you 'massive' but dismisses us so easily given Liverpool's obsession with trophies won.
