i wouldn't want to think you are backing out of a charity bet now Fredor?

the clear as fook wording is:

£20 bet on which team get's the highest league gate
Job done.

Joking aside If you want to back out Fredor, just say. I'll put my own hand in my pocket and put £20 into the MacMillan pot on behalf of you. <whistle>

Dear Albert
OH what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive

I have read your clear as fook wording which you posted in the thread where I was discussing the relative attendances of Sunderland and Newcastle
You confused me when you decided to accept the literal meaning of your words when on all previous comments when I have pointed out to you that Sunderland hold the record attendance of over 75,000 I have been informed in no uncertain manner that it meant nothing and the only thing was the fooking AVERAGE, so you can see from my point of view I do not know which way you are going to jump
Nonetheless I will go along with the interpretation you put on it today and stick with the literal meaning

In my opinion neither fooking Sunderland or fooking Newcastle will be the

Team that gets the highest league gate

I also think that Sunderland will draw a bigger gate at Manchester than Newcastle will at Huddersfield

Even though it wasnt stipulated it is clear that the agreement was made on the basis of home attendences. Obviously Newcastle will singularly receive the highest gate receipts as we will sell a game out, if that happens once the bet is over. Perhaps we should draw up a contract which includes exclusions, indemnity clauses and an interpretation section which will need to not only be signed by the relevant parties, but also their spouses?

Also as we have established that the comment £20 bet on which team get's the highest league gate refers to Newcastle and Sunderland as it was in the context of the ongoing convo. Sunderland cant claim a higher league gate by using man united's fans. That would be like saying "we have the more dedicated fans because we had 70,000 turn up to watch us at old trafford" its nonsense.

Fredor, you shouldnt have taken the bet because we have the bigger ground and at some point next year we will sell 95% + of our capacity and you will have lost. It was a stupid bet to take up.

You obviously have not read the previous comments otherwise you would see it started when I suggested the SOL should be extended, do you seriously think I would want the ground extended for ONE GAME it was always about the average attendance when Albert tried to pull a fast one and pointed out the literal wording, any FAIR MINDED person would agree that a one day attendance is insignificant, this is shown every time I point out Sunderland's record gate of 75,000 , I will even accept what you say if you can guarantee me that the Newcastle forum will forever accept that the Sunderland attendance is superior to Newcastle's

Regarding your comment Re contract, in Australia the person accepting the wager ( The bookie ) decides the interpretation, is it different in Newcastle ?

I love the way you make the assumption it was between Newcastle and Sunderland though not expressly mentioned, ( I agree here ) but deny me the right to assume it was about the average gate

I rest my case your honour

So figures from this season, which ended a week ago, suggesting there are 6000 seats free on average in your stadium are "from the past" and no longer relevant?

However, you think that an expansion of your stadium has been 'overlooked'. Given that you are not using your current stadium capacity or attendances in your decision making process for that comment you may as well have been talking about anything or anyone really.

Personally I think Gateshead need to expand their stadium to around the 100k capacity mark. Just in case.

Why did you mention ON AVERAGE ?

At least I have achieved what I set out to do and that was to convince the supporters of N.U.F.C that Sunderland would have a higher average gate for the next few years

The way I see it

We have a Sunderland supporter with an optimistic view going forward, and confidence that the team manager will perform over the coming season
Against which
We have a Newcastle supporter with the pessimistic view that their manager had them relegated and was not at all confident in him for the coming season

As such was unwilling to wager on a level playing field ( Which average would be ) but insisted the odds be stacked in his favour

And we have a match day thread being dragged out forever by someone either:

1- back tracking on a bet
2- trying to set a world record in being a pedant

Like all good things......
