I can see why the penalty was given but agree with the commentators that it was very harsh and wouldn't normally be given As for the rest of the game, I can't think how to put it except that it's not so much playing badly that is our problem as much as our inability to play well when we need to. We can't find that piece of magic when we need it.
Definite penalty, Tash. Have a look at the replay and you will see Mbembas arm is stretched out and not in a natural position.
Totally agree with the top line and to be fair, this is the best I've seen Man Utd play in quite a while. They look great on the counter attack
You lot look OK to me, poor decision for not giving you a penalty but I'll not lose sleep over it. We look ****ing boring again. We need to hook Fellaini for Mata and start playing football. At least it isn't 0-0
You look great on the counter attack with the speed you are moving it about and getting it up the pitch...
Do we? I think we look light and it's only because their defence is so ****ing terrible that we scored that 2nd goal. Where was their other centre half?
It shows how confusing the handball rule is when two ex premier league refs have come out and said it wasn't a penalty. Too much of a grey area. As usual we are on the wrong end of both debatable decisions though.
Mike Dean says pen. Howard Webb says pen. It might be a touch harsh, but it's a pen. That said, so is the challenge the other end. But it's Man U, so they get at least one gimme.
Do you know that **** fat bastard? Yeah, well he's playing really well tonight. He looks dangerous and it's been a while since I thought that about him.
In other news, Benik Afobe has made Mitrovic look like Shearer himself on his debut! Poor lad, probably shouldn't be starting the day after signing...
Yes, but he clearly wasn't going for the ball. He was feeling for his man, he had no idea where the ball was.
Well it's all up to the players and to some extent McLaren (subs) in the second half. 3-1 or 2-2 and game on, let's see if they have what it takes. Atm they are edging things through having more pace and power. Colback is a passenger and is ball chasing. we need more cohesion from midfield to the forwards, but nobody to do it.
From the BBC: " NUFC now not had a penalty for over a year. The count is now at seven that should have been given in that time. Conspiracy?" Wow, 7?! That's impressive, even by conspiracy standards. I reckon Mike's not paying Howard his protection money.
Yep, this - biggest 45 mins of the season potentially coming up. Even 2-2 might give us something for the season. I'd swap Colback for anybody else and consider Sissoko inside instead. Tiote can mop up on his own, he doesn't need Ginger Pirlo running around after him.
