17 games isn't a final league position and trophy. In terms of full seasons:

Emery under Villa - 7th, 4th and 6th.
Newcastle under Howe - 4th. 7th and 5th.

Howe has one more CL and a trophy, he's clearly done better.

Yes, but he's not doing better now though is he? Emery had nowt last summer and Howe got 250 million mate.

It's about where things are not where they were last season. Someone at the club has made an arse of it in comparison.

That's probably him finished tbh.. Used to be career ending.. It's what did Willock. Just not the same player years after...

Not nice... Lad scored the goal that saw Newcastle win its first trophy for 70 years and got an offer to make the next step.

You never come back the same from that type of injury I'm afraid

Brilliant manager. Such a shame we missed out, miles ahead of Howe (not interested in the “what’s he won”).

You should be because emery has won loads more than Howe ever will. I could be wrong, but I think Howe will finish on the same number as Laudrup

There's no comparison

Howes achieved impressive stuff too.

Taking Bournemouth from the foot of league 2 on minus points, zero money and taking them all the way to the Prem where they stayed multiple years and continue to be today is incredible. He essentially rebuilt that club from the bottom up.

Then coming to us, bottom of the prem, to the CL and a trophy win. It's impressive

I know inevitably it will turn and he will be replaced one day but I think for what he has done at this club it's more than everyone expected.

True.

It's not beyond the rhelms of possibility that a bigger club takes Howe from Newcastle as opposed to Newcastle choosing to replace him.

Tottenham or Man United might be sniffing around the idea..

He'd be mad to go to Spurs imo

The top 6 looks set now... There's those 6 and the rest including Newcastle anything could still happen I suppose.

Not Man U, they were terrible last night, we just didn't take advantage. Top 5 set, then 6th to 14th could any up in any arrangement.

They played their reserves mate and they'll just spend big again in January.. Genuinely think that's going to be the top 6 come May.
Nah Fernandes out is gonna hit them hard, they should've lost last night and will lose more now, everything goes through him.

Yet they still beat us? Just saying.. They're much better this season and that's why they're 6th.

They can go big in January too, so I think they'll be ending their struggle... It's why the rules exist.

That's literally one result, had we beat them they'd be 9th and we'd be level with them. That's the point, they're in the bit of the table that's very changeable, they ain't running away with the top lot.

Absence of Fernandes was clearly visible last night, hence we controlled most of the game, they might have got lucky last night, but they ain't good will lose more without him.

We didn't beat them though mate and we're now as close to the relegation zone as we are to top 4.

I actually think Newcastle will get back into the mix for 7th over the next 3 games, but this constant belittling of Man United is a bit weird... They're 6 points ahead of us and have injury problems.

BTW 6 points is more than 25% of our total points tally after half a season and they have goal difference.

This isn't about a comparison to us, it's an overall feeling about how Man U are and where they'll finish. It's a totally objective opinion on them, how good the team I support may or may not be is irrelevant here.

Man U look much better than last season, but still way off the top, they rely so heavily on Fernandes that I can only see them worsening in the near future.
