Whereas in 98 and 99, when we went into the FA Cup finals huge underdogs, and were easily beaten, I genuinely thought we could beat Man U this time, but it just had to coincide with our **** spell in the season, before we got back on track and comfortably beat them in the league.

This was our big chance cos City weren't focused on the league cup this year, can't see us getting another chance like that for a while. Gah.

I think even at our peak we would have bottled the match.

We weren't just poor, we were absolutely disinterested. I don't care if the Brazilian lads cried after, they are two of our most expensive and important players, they were absolutely abject. Casemiro made them look like u-21s tbh, he was a different level of player and wanted that trophy, a few months later we clearly shown we can beat them.

Howe didn't really know what to change, how to change it or anything. The half time talk seemingly made us come out even MORE disinterested.

He apologised to Amanda when they walked past them in the stands, and she hugged him saying "Oh god don't apologise!" and I was thinking "nah its ok, you can say sorry."

Love the team and the coach but I won't bullshit to save face and say it didn't hurt and I wasnt mad at them.

Well I mean they might they'll have a chance at least but it's also possible they keep losing in the latter rounds and finals as usual for another 60 years.

I gave up on the idea of winning trophies decades ago and now I just hate other unsuccessful clubs and hope they don't win anything either.

I almost flounced this site when a few of the old boys on here were saying "we go again, we will have another chance."

You can't have been alive when Newcastle lost two FA Cup finals and just say "its fine, we will have another chance." We literally didn't get another chance for years and years to come and got relegated twice in the meantime <laugh>

It's jokes. Newcastle managers seemingly either have so much pressure that it's an impossible job, or absolutely no pressure and it's a doddle. There is no in between. It's possible to like a manager and demand they win a ****ing trophy when we have a good side.

Newcastle were too pleased to reach the final as usual

Getting to the final and losing was bad enough, but our midfield being schooled by someone who looks like a weird smiling baby was the worst bit.
