We are there in the mix for sure. Although I wanted us to stay in either comp no Europe will be a help when it comes to the league. I think we are easily 6th at least. Villa don't look like they are going to go away at the moment.
Villa's benefit is they can play a rubbish team on a Thursday because it's a crap tournament and will still progress! They also benefitted from recruiting first team starters in the Summer to ensure they didn't miss Mings when he got injured, and to then have PL-class options on either wing, and also used free transfers when recruiting from Leicester instead of paying £40m for a winger they didn't need, and got in loans who are actually capable of playing PL football unlike the loan of Lewis Hall. It's really not hard to see why they're doing well and why we should be doing better.
Every year there looks to be brilliant free contract players and we never seem to go for them, I know they cost more in bonuses due to no transfer fee but surely you're still better off
