Nah, I reckon there is 24 Chelsea squad members that think similar. Looking forward to the day Bruno misplaces one pass though
Southgate's stealing a living, in my opinion. He could play a decent team with England yet sticks to his favourites. And quite why you'd play a right back at left back is just mystifying. It's not like we don't have any. He's like a younger Bruce. Once England get rid, he'll have a CV like Bruce's of a bunch of mediocre clubs with no success anywhere.
Chilwell is deservedly 1st choice left back. Luke Shaw is a favourite so will always get in I suspect. If those are at available why not call up Targett? He had great form at the end of the season and is and England u21
My problem with him is that he starts some of the younger players in games like this but then when it comes to World Cup games he goes back to his favourites. It was great to see Bellingham and Saka getting games, but can't understand why he would start with Phillips, who has been out almost all season. Walker can be a bit of a positional liability, but his pace was useful last night, covering for the centre backs. Not sure who else I would stick in in place of the centre backs though. I like Stones but he has concentration lapses and Maguire didn't play badly after the nightmare season he has had. I can't think of anyone else who I would replace them with. Think the media put a lot of pressure on our national team manager and it is this pressure that makes them go back to their tried and trusted favourites to try and eke out a result that will get the press of their back. These games should be opportunities for trying out new options for the World Cup at the end of the year, but one loss and the pressure is on him again.
On Channel 4 it was suggested that Tripp’s was out of position for Germany’s goal and that was how it was scored. This being suggested when the picture on screen showing Maguire behind the German goalscorer and miles out of position. It’s a bit like goalkeepers. England used to have the best with Banks followed by Shelton and Clements. We also to have great centre backs such as Bobby Moore, Brian Labone, Roy McFarland and even Colin Todd. Now we have Short Arms Pickford and Planks Stones and Muppet Maguire.
I thought he was out of position as well but then realised he had been dragged left to cover the guy outside him and the centre back was at fault for not filling the gap. I used to play full back so am quite okay with passing fault on to the centre back. If I was playing centre back though it would have been the full back’s fault.
The arseholes on TV will be desperate to get Trippier out the team now. If he played for Tottenham still they'd blame some ****er else. It's more tears drink them in...
Good. I hope Trippier gets dropped and they never call him up again. Let some fecker else get injured while on international duty.
Bit harsh on a guy who probably came back to play in UK to improve his chance of playing in the next World Cup.
I remember there's a qualifying match on so turn on Iplayer to catch it. I see a guy step up to miss a penalty and.. oh that's it. 2 and a bit hours of football and I catch the relevant 5 seconds. Time saved!!
Former Newcastle player Jon Dahl Tomasson is set to be named Blackburn manager. Always liked Tomasson, was great for Denmark, won a European cup at Feyenoord and is a cult hero at AC Milan, were he won the Champions League. Shame he sucked for us.
I said a short while back it's the beginning of the end for Southgate. He's the luckiest fcker I've ever seen in charge of England, but he's still useless because we should have done better in both tournaments given the amount of luck he got. I mean, look at his group for the WC ffs - but I think Wales might turn us over. Almost every decent team in the PL plays 4-3-3 with relatively high full backs. Only he can explain why he pisses about with 3 at the back and other nonsense. Just get an identity, pick the best players for that formation and you're all good. I feel like I've said the same thing about every England manager aside from Venables and Robson.
