I was saying this to someone a few weeks ago. Highly likely they'll try for Howe because it would give them the double whammy of getting a very good manager in and damaging a rival in one move.

Saturday saw Newcastle U18s continue their unbeaten start to the season with an epic victory on Merseyside that left them third in the table behind both Manchester clubs.

The hosts who boasted a 100% record in the league went ahead through Finn Inglethorpe's 29th minute effort but United levelled seven minutes later through Matt Taylor.

Alfie Seldon
then put the visitors ahead seconds after the restart before Kacey Wooster opened up a 3-1 advantage for the Magpies in the 54th minute - both goals created by winger Mo Waddani.

Joe Bradshaw reduced the deficit to one goal in the 68th minute before substitute Scofield Lonmeni beat England youth international goalkeeper George Mair to make it 3-3 with 11 minutes of normal time remaining.

The black and whites weren't finished though and Wooster won it in the 89th minute, ensuring that his side left Kirkby with maximum points for the third successive season.

Team: Mair, Bloomer, Durrant, Old, Moran (Yeutembip 67), Taylor (Pattison 90), Waddani, O'Donovan, Hutchison (Gilligan 90), Wooster, Seldon (Pinnington 67).
Sub n/u: Anderson.

I actually think if Man Utd got rid of Amorim they'd seriously look at Nuno. He's available so would cost them nowt in compo so that will appeal massively to their tight fisted freelance tramp of an owner. It's a ****ing poisoned chalice of a job but they've got some reasonable talent for the right manager to work with. Can't see Mourinho ending up back there but you never know with that ****er!

Despite their investment, their squad is badly in need of an overhaul. They're still wheeling out Maguire, Shaw, Casemiro. Their goalkeeper situation is still a ****ing joke. They've only really got the league to focus on this year, they need to use this year to get their ****ing **** together but it's hilarious watching this all play out. Won't be long until Mbuemo, Cunha and Sesko start wondering what the **** they've walked in to.

Still think they’d go for Howe.
