Interesting point on Spurs. Ange surely done, the chairman of the Howe fan club either has or is about to have a stake in their club, Howes weird comment about maybe not being here when the shackles come off in July…
That would be funny.... all of a sudden everyone that's attached themselves to a manager like a tick will try to drop off and hide. Although I don't think Howe would leave right now tbh.
In that scenario (IF it happened), then Spurs would be poaching him and therefore have to agree terms to pay us compensarion to buy out his contract.
I can’t see Howe leaving us for Spurs. That’s not in his character. I do find his comment about July and him not being here as odd. But I think it’s more to do with our plans for the summer. Howe won’t manage spurs.
It doesn't have to be about his character, mate. There's compensation to be had but a lot will depend on what happens this season. A trophy and he's safe as houses. No trophy but Euro qualification is almost certainly enough. Anything less and he'll be gone anyway.
So you think his target has been set to a trophy or European football. If we fail either he’s sacked?
Maybe he's been told something along those lines by the owners? Hence his 'joke' about not knowing if he'd still be here to appreciate the big change after this summer.
Just an opinion and god knows I'm wrong significantly more often than right. Most managers have a bar set at the start of the season. I imagine both Howe and Ange were similar, hence why Ange is still potentially here because he 'can' win a pot. I suspect Howe's looked at the squad, the empty coffers, not forgotten some of the ropey performances/results in spite of that fantastic run, and looked at the table to realise we'll likely be overtaken by Chelsea, City and possibly one or two others just because of their investment. Villa getting Malen, B'mth absolute flying with TWELVE out injured, Brighton looking ok, Fulham nibbling away so we're currently fifth in a season where Spurs and Man U are nowhere. We're closer to 10th than 3rd. We'll end this round of matches in 6th. Genuinely I think this is Howe's last season - there just doesn't seem to be the same noises of support or even a real feeling about him staying long term, oddly enough.
I don't want to be that person but EH wont have a contract with us from July as his contract would be up
Well that was the length of his original contract. I think he's done enough to get an extension More than enough. Think he has to accept Mitchell though to continue
Has he really got an issue with Mitchell ? Is he puffing out his chest a bit in the background ? If he tried being cute and difficult about how much say he's got I'd make him think I was receptive and then out of nowhere replace him at the last minute.
being such an obstacle he'd get himself sacked though. I do wonder if Staveley gave him final say or too much control though.
