What actually happened is that Town were 6th in the league in November and then went on a run of six straight defeats. Town also made it to the League Cup semi final. Six defeats. A League Cup semi final. McCarthy served up dire average crap for years and kept his job. Roy Keane had us in the play off zone, but had a bad run over 6 games. Not liking Roy Keane's personality or management style is an argument for not wanting him at the club - although from the stands we're not actually in the dressing room or in training to be able to make any judgement on those. Just about everything else that's spoken about his tenure is nonsense. What Scowey says - "there has been little else to get excited about lately." No ****. Roy Keane got us to a League Cup semi final, and since then we all know how it's gone.
Mick may have served us some terrible football over many years but he certainly didn't ruin our club and he kept us competitive on a small budget. Keane managed to ruin us in only a year and a half thats why he was sacked whilst spending £12 million, playing dire football and getting rid of alot of talented staff. He set us back years. Even he admitted he was good enough and there was a spate of players who came about afterwards criticising him, I don't recall that about other Ipswich managers there was even a book written about it with lots of player contributions
Mate your obsession with Keane at Ipswich is commendable. He was however absolutely crap for us and will admit that himself!
