If the story is news then what's wrong with discussing it?

Wrong was done on both sides but the death or murder of a child is hard to forgive. I don't know the full story but if the article is accurate then it was terrible and I don't see any reason why is should not be looked at again.

there is the BBC article Dev.

Like I say, I think the HET has done some great work and has been valuable for the community. I think they were supposed to only be around for a few years, but there is so much for them to do. I wouldn't be the worlds biggest fan of the RUC but their investigation wasn't flawed in this instance.

To be fair that looks like a clear case of murder to me.

I know it's hard to believe but when I was in NI I never knew a single soldier who did not want to do the best he could in the circumstances. I was a lad of 18 myself and I was happy to go there, not to kill people but to help people, I do not know anyone who I served with who did not want the same.

Of course there are always bad apples and Para Reg had more than it's share, it was never sectarian though I don't think, no one gave a **** about religion in the army but same as any occupation - and moreso the army - you always get a few arseholes, murderers and psychos.

It;s very sad and I take my hat off to the girl's family.

Dev, I know, give me some credit!! Do you really think, after reading all the nonsense between you and Trev/Edge/Rocket for the last God knows how many days, I thought you were in the Paras together? Anyway, I'm going to watch "The Event" now, I'll maybe catch you crazy cats tomorrow afternoon.

    I don't doubt it Dev.
I remember reading about Nigel Benn who was stationed in the north and he is quoted as saying "what the **** am I doing here?"
there is a song called 'terrorist or dreamer' that has the lyric "kids of the english working class, soldiers overnight". I won't pretend to sympathise, but I suppose I can empathise to some extent. These poor lads must have been bricking themselves. Its very easy to generalise about these people and even easier to do when their name is besmirched by the actions of a few. Especially when their actions have such grave ramifications.

I've always thought it was Nev, but I had a thought earlier it was Rocket. Can anybody confirm or deny?
