Well who said SLF is keeping his job? His tweets were positive. Do owners normally communicate much more. Too much moaning on here.
One problem who exactly owes the money? TF is a lovely bloke but I honestly think he is a poor businessman. I would prefer a good businessman plus I believe that there will be a lot of interest in buying a west London club so your vision of doom of the days I remember in my bones isn't likely
That doesn't make any sense. The only appointment's made under Fernandes were the three you've mentioned. It could also be argued that Ramsey was punching above his weight as he had spent the least out of the three. Ramsey was as as close to the real Rangers that we all know and love but he is lambasted the most. The sacking of Ramsey is a great indication of the shallow and fickle club that we've now become.
Is Ramsey lambasted the most? I seem to remember an awful lot of lambasting over a much more sustained period aimed at Redknapp and Hughes and some of it hasn't stopped yet, while Ramsey I think will be forgotten quite quickly, mainly because he's a nice guy.
Quite a succinct article from a website called Shoot: "The crazy world of Tony Fernandes continues 10th November 2015 On Saturday, after a bright start, Queens Park Rangers conspired to a 0-0 draw with Preston featuring one of the dullest halves of football I have ever witnessed. In complete contrast, the past few weeks have seen Tony Fernandes make a return to football matters, leaving a trail of confusion in his path. About three weeks ago Fernandes tweeted that he ‘still believes but… going up is everything’ – a 180-degree turn on his public declaration of a period of consolidation and rebuilding of the club from earlier this year. This moving of the goal posts triggered a series of events that included former manager, Neil Warnock returning to the club and last week culminated in head-coach Chris Ramsey being relieved of his duties after 30 games in charge. The decision to make Warnock, the first manager Fernandes fired, interim manager typifies how the club has been run in recent years. Shambolically, Ramsey was put in charge to rebuild but then was not given the time by Fernandes. With regards to who the new manager should be, part of me wonders whether it will make any difference. As dreadful as he was at QPR, Mark Hughes has done fine everywhere else and at clubs like Blackburn, Fulham and Stoke, similar to the R’s in stature, he has been a success. All things considered, Harry Redknapp had quite a decent managerial career before taking over and did, somehow, get us promoted. Ramsey was a man never destined to get the job, but did. He tried, he failed, and was then hung out to dry by a weak club statement following his sacking. Earlier today, the club’s owners effectively wrote off more than £180 million worth of debt in interest free loans by turning the loans in to equity, which according to the owners, means the club isn’t liable for the money. This has led to speculation that the owners are trying to sell the club but the board have been quick to deny this. Taking into account the £60 million also written off earlier this year, when the threat of Financial Fair Play sanctions loomed large, that’s a total of £240 million written off. Two-hundred-and-forty-million! Let’s just take that in for a second. A club that has a stadium with a capacity of less than 20,000, that has never won the FA Cup or a top-flight title, based in a city with 13 other professional teams, has amassed a debt of £240 million pounds in only four years and has nothing to show for it. I take my hat off to the owners for seemingly taking such a huge loss on the chin, and if it doesn’t come back to effect QPR, that certainly won’t be forgotten by me. However, this is the R’s we are talking about, so I have my doubts. Regardless, the fiscal policy of the past four years doesn’t inspire confidence for the future, if they are still the owners. On a day where eye-watering sum of monies owed were being dealt with like a bar tab, Fernandes decided to throw another corker of a tweet into the mix, stating that ‘QPR fans need to manage their expectations.’ After shaking my head, I thought long and hard and I can honestly say that after the past few years of madness, I don’t think I have any expectations to manage at all. Perhaps that’s more worrying than anything else."
He's spot on regarding Tone's request for us to 'manage expectations'. WTF are our expectations meant to be, given that he says 'promotion is everything'? If that's the case every dropped point should be greeted by a riot. Or have the goalposts moved again?
Maybe not that shocking when you think about the wage bill, I wonder how much was paid out to SWP and all the other players that only played a handful of games. Oh well I guess our expectations on a return for 250m was too high! I doubt we will see an outlay like that ever again. The world of football is so far removed from the real world.
SWP was paid £12,5 million in wages alone. That's 1/20 of the total debt. That goes a long way to explain the wast sums of money that has poured out of the club/the owners' pockets.
Fun ride at the World's greatest circus. And we're back at Start again with no permanent damage. Beats the 15 odd years before.
Except that 15 years ago neutrals felt sorry for QPR fans and an odd respect for a small club which had always been entertaining and punched above its weight. Now they feel we are a bunch of spendthrift ****ers who tried to buy success and cheat the rules and they are delighted that we have failed. The damage to reputation/brand from the last five years is huge.
Ah, is for me. Previous 15 we were lost, it was extremely boring. Last 4 we been promoted twice and been in the PL 3 seasons. We have had some great players and beaten and given good games to the best in the Country. There's been the bad periods of course too, but like life its better to live it than be a grey mouse in the back alley. Thanks Tony.
